There are currently over 350,000 registered recreational vehicles - including caravans, camper trailers and tent trailers - in Australia. The popularity of these vehicles is growing rapidly, with new registrations of around 20,000 units every year.

Our membership is 2578 and growing

Maybe that is why we are so hard to find out there as we make up less than 1% and we are not all out travelling at the same time anyway.

i am like HW and am always looking on vans for stickers too.

Got the GN sticker on the back of the van, the one on the 4WD came off, however we have our names on the back of the van, along with what we call our tug - the wood shack! We also have Vietnam Vet stickers on as well - can't miss us - but please be assured our rig looks a little more 'up-market' than our avatar!

Still mighty chilly here in Canberra and can't spell probably - hence the edit.

Good to hear the responses so I will now have to look closer, but as Pam said with 2578 members we are only a small proportion of vanners on the road.

I too like the magpies. I have a number of them in my garden (I use the term garden very loosely) and they do a good job on the lawn grubs and beatles.

If ever you get stuck behind me you'll have that tyre cover to amuse you. You'll know you're behind THE real Cruising Granny, flashing beacons or not.
I'm not so recognisable from the front except for the flashing beacons of course.
I'm trying to organise a printed sign across the front of the windscreen, to specifications of course.
I love meeting fellow GN's and other travellers. That's partly what it's all about for me.
I don't know if the people who've already met me would agree, but I've had some good memories gathered with nomads who've become good friends.
Maybe we could have state gatherings from time to time, and whoever is travelling in that state at the time could be there. That would save people scrambling across the country to the chosen state of gathering. By the end of the year it's possible to have been at all of them, if they were game enough.

I'd rather have lovely singing magpies in my garden than the two black crows on my roof today with the next door neighbour dog's bones. The noise was unbelievable, sure they were picking them up and throwing to each other.

we have a family of magpies in our sons yard where we are staying and two of them actually land on your arm when you call them for a feed and the other two eat out of your hand

Same up at my sons place in Biggenden, very tame maggies there. They sit on the ledge of the balcony waiting to be fed, not frightened at all. The previous owners must have tamed them.

While staying at my daughters minding grandson, possums were having a party in the roof every night!

Thank God you changed your photo Marj. Your previous one reminded me so much of my mother it was scarey. Even when I showed other people they couldn't believe how much you looked like my mum!! Thought she had a double!!!

P.S. I love my mum dearly, but was just a bit scarey thinking she had a double.

Thats very scary sucastja. Funny I was asked the same in the local grocery store the other day. No I don't have a sister living here, she couldn't believe it. She said we even sounded the same.

Years ago we had a house with a flat roof, next door neighbour fed their dog dry food pellets and the birds would steal them from the dog bowl then come up to our roof and throw them down to break them up. NOT pleasant early on a Sunday morning. I think the local possums also did the possum gumboot olympics down the 'lanes' on the tin roof at night.
