On the 24 news just now, they issued a warning for floods in the northern NSW area from Tweed down into some valleys south of there. I'm not familiar with the names and didn't have time to writen them down.
So for anyone intending to travel this long weekend into those areas, be careful.
Thanks for passing that on Marj. Floods or no floods long weekends are good time to stay well clear of the Pacific Highway, especially south of Port Macquarie.
Long weekends seem to be the best time to stay home everywhere. The radio had "peak hour" traffic reports at about 2pm today. The city folk all want to head to the country and/or the beach, and all the other motorists who have to be on the road for one reason or another, have to put up with inexperienced city drivers out in the country for a change. Living on one of South Aussie's busiest highways I get a good idea of the volume of weekend traffic heading out. They'll all be back on Monday arvo. Stay safe everyone.

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/ and http://www.eldersweather.com.au/ are excellent weather sites. Elders weather is based on Weatherzone who use data from the BOM to prepare their forecasts. Either of these sites is worth bookmarking/adding to favorites and either site can be customised to suit requirements. The Elders site loads quicker as it's less fancy.
Thanks for that. Our daughter lives in Nana Glen, in the Orara Valley. Over the three years three years that they have lived there they have had 6 "once in a hundred year floods"...

hm we headed down the highway on friday to gold coast from sunny coast geesh the traffic was horrendous both ways ,typical long weekend we had no choice we were catching up with hubbys sis from central coast who had flown up with her hubby and the kids to see the outback spectacular so here we were thinking oh yeah we will set off and stay at a mates on friday night ,wasnt so bad though think it took us a bit over 2 hours where normaly it takes us about an hour and a half to the goldy thats only from memory but we took some back roads once we got to pimpama ,highway was at a still after that luckily we knew the sneaky ways.
although in saying that we did get lost because even though hubby lived on the goldy for twenty years its changed so much he didnt recognise half of the places anymore .
