It is now 5 weeks since I bought my Hi-Ace Commuter van....and I have named her "Tildy".
She is in great mechanical condition, has dual fuel......with a much larger than normal gas tank.....rollout awning....screens and grilles on the windows....an 80 litre Waeco compressor fridge/freezer.....house battery and a few other bits and pieces.
The interior layout was nothing short of awful!!! I am right into DIY....but this was beyond redemption!!! I am not complaining....just explaining. I was actually quite happy about it because it allowed me to negotiate on price and put it within my budget.
To save money, I have dismantled the interior myself. All of the bits that were unuseable....that means almost everything....now have a new home at the tip!!
I contemplated using some of the Bunnings pre fab cupboards and doing the reno myself...but sadly the sizes were'nt suitable for me......On to plan B.....
Today, I took Tildy to the van beauty parlour for a makeover..... She is a girl after all.... She will get all of her new cupboards, curtains etc; and will come home.....hopefully Friday of next week....looking beautiful. I am sooo excited!!!!
Great one Pam, Love the name Tildy. She will look fantastic with her makeover, can't wait to see the pics. Oh if we could all win lotto, we could all give our vans a complete makeover, including a new motor.
Good on you Pam it is alway a good feeling to get everything in its place we have had our van for a year now a still find little thing to do or move it is near finished now. We have been house sitting since XMAS and will be back on the road in Sept it's a great feeling to be on the road again exploring new things we have a great backyard out there. Regards
