There was a big discussion about this a while ago, so if you try search I'm sure you will find the links. The majority came back with not using any of the special preparations. Most use presoaker purchased from Woolworths. Not Napisan but the Woolies brand is stronger. A tablespoon of it in the bottom tank. If only using it for No1s some say to add a teaspoon of yoghurt as well. We don't bother. If the cassette starts to smell add some more presoaker. A lot cheaper and just as effective. Can also be used with septic tanks. I am sure others will have more advise on this topic.

we are also on septic at home,and irrespective of what other people may say or claim, there is no way we will take
a chance of upsetting our system. Too much of a hassle time and cost wise.
We always make sure our cassette is emptied and cleaned before we get home.

We arent on septics but most parks over here are so we use those drop in Bio tablets for bottom tank and the red top tank fluid and have never had a problem

The premix chemicals are very expensive, and I never did understand the "top" and "bottom" difference.
There are dump points everywhere these days. Roadhouses, service stations, caravan parks, usually well signposted by the local authority which makes this facility available free. It must be the only thing that is these days.
Someone leaving a caravan park left me a few biotabs when they returned their rental motorhome. I hadn't used my loo for quite a while, but due to some health stuff I had to use it. I don't do solide in my loo.
When I went to dump at the sump there was a lot of solid material tipped out. It was hard, brittle, crusty like rust chunks. I don't know what it was, and I cleaned out as much as I could.
It could have been residue from the bio-tab or the dried up home-made chemical I use.

I'm afraid so. Maybe sewerage systems can cope with the chemicals, but they will upset the process of the septic tanks.
Best to dump at designated dump sites. Besides, it can get a bit messy with spillage if you're not careful enough. Not intentional, but it does happen when people dump in the loo.
Some just use the bucket and pour that down the toilet, bathroom sink or laundry tub. It takes all kinds.
There's a lot of responsibility to this "liberated" lifestyle, but it's in everyone's best interest, especially yours.

The big no-no is to empty any cassette into a long drop or composting dunny. Both work on the principle of being relatively dry to compost the remains. There is too much liquid in a cassette, if you dump that down the hole then you drown the composting at the bottom. It does not matter what chemical you use in your pottie, it's the volume of of liquid that is the killer. It can take weeks or even months for the composting action to restart, during that time the dunny is nearly unusable.

You must be careful of septic systems as well. If you have the wrong chemicals in the cassette it can kill your system (or that of the park you are in) in double quick time. It may be OK for a couple of people in a park to empty the cassettes in the septic but if a large percentage do so it will flood the sceptics and not give them time to operate properly. It is best not to use the parks dunnies to empty your cassettes or you may find you are living in a smelly park.
