i had an electric blanket on my bed when i was a teenager ,woke up one night had forgotten to turn it off and so in
the night reached over to turn if off at the click thing and it went bang the chord from where i had touched it was
black to the power point and so was my hand with like a black powdery dust.

I figured my hand was sweaty and so this helped with the bang.

in saying that both of my kids had them and it was a done thing in our home that you must
turn off when u get into bed and they always did that after the story that i told them

Recently visited a 90 year old family friend who started recounting their caravan days. Told us he had one stolen and one burn down. Fire started in his wife's electric blanket. As she had deteriorating mobility he helped her. When hooking his arm under his wife his hand and arm were burnt. Twenty years later he still has limited feeling in that area.
We were told this story just before this topic started. It has turned me off electric blankets even more, especially in a caravan where there is limited escape room. Heat sacks and water bottles for me.
