Its cool here in Townsville but not cold can still wear shorts in the day time and light cloths at night so head nth.

Same in WA, dam freezing during the night, some heavy rain with fine breaks, but a lot colder down south where Blaze is.

In WA we have what they call the "Granny Season" where all the oldies (errrrr......GN's) go north for the warmth for their arthritis etc.

The warmer climes in WA start about Carnarvon and further north, many of the older generation from down south go as far as Carnarvon and prop there for the winter.

When living in Broome, my annual neighbours were always the same people who'd booked the sites year after year. They came from Bunbury and Rockingham. When they arrived, about 1st June, it was like a family reunion.
During the year I'd look after their sites no matter who was camped on them between seasons, but they always rewarded me for looking after "their" sites with copious amounts of coffee and cake, and drinks with nibbles at happy hour.
It's an interesting phenomenon in the northern WA region. They'd arrive on or about June 1st, and would leave 30th September or as soon as the weather warmed up and the humidity climbed.
Cairns was a little different because people spent shorter periods up that way so the van park population turnover was more frequent.
They'd vacate when the humidity kicked in sometime in October.
It was how they all handled the winter cold down south.

I can't understand everyone complaining about the cold. I read in todays Territorian that Darwin has officially
had its coldest June on record with there average minimum temp of................................................ 16.1
You must feel for them freezing up there.

On average this week its been 5 degrees warmer in my home town of Smithton in the nw of tassie than its been in Albany

I've always found that jeans can be quite cold in the evening. Good old fashioned thick joggers are what I wear, both home and when camping. In the evenings that is. If we're going somewhere then I dress accordingly.

We're in Kadadu at the moment & I've had to raise my alcohol intake limit to cope with the plumeting temperatures here. Tonight its reported to be reaching just 19c. I'm not sure I can take it any more....where's that blood bottle

I have found a glass of cab sav raises the internal temperature considerably- no need for electric blankets, thermals, uggs, or hot water bottles!!

Cold weather. Absolutely not. Hasn't hit double figures yet - below 0 that is. Not cold till that happens. Just a bit on the cccooooolll side!!

And if the sun is out its shorts and T-shirt weather!!

It's a hoot here in Darwin with the locals walking around in flannels, jackets & beanies complaining about the cold, where as I am walking around in my thongs & shorts & only put on a t-shirt to feel dressed up enough to go out. Where can we get winters like this that last for 12 months? Just perfect.

This is our 4th day on the road heading south, seen no other vans heading south, but every second vehicle heading north is a van - our arms are getting sore from giving them all a wave! Not too bad here in Jerilderie, but then again a glass of red helps - into Melbourne tomorrow, before 'going overseas' on the ferry to Tasmania on Friday night - and Chocolate Festival on Sunday - now that would warm anyone up surely??

struth, this wind is bloody terrible, my dads house has no power, unfortunatly im going to do my show (radio show)

i rang the radio station and said i wont be in.,parts of nowra and main streets and shoalhaven areas are blacked out, and a few fires around too..

i took dad down a hot dinner seing he's still without power, he has a gas lantern and is ok but going to bed soon. i have power still and have the 4 bars on my gas heater going on its only 12 degrees but will drop down over nite i reckon

That was on the Moonee Bridge Milo. It's the bridge over the Hawkesbury River near Brooklyn.
Thankfully the gale force winds here at Moruya have eased off today. They were pretty "hairy" though and the whole van moved........by the wind of course................
