Just had a day at the Lismore caravan / camping show. Some of the camper trailers are dearer than 20ft vans with the works. I did make a wish list, xmass must be getting close!LOL.May just have to keep on dreaming.

Got to agree , just where do they get their pricing from , not much in them for the dollars . Basic Motor Homes aren't any better when you consider the price they can get a truck cab chassis , hard to justify another $150 -$200000 for for a cab fitout .

Friends paid $40,000 for a camper trailer a wile back - second hand!!! I had the van packed, hitched and ready to go in under an hour, they were still going two cups of coffee later, stopped for coffee, and took another hour - too much hard work in that one. Camper trailer we used to have could be up or down in about 15 minutes - bit longer if we had stayed a while - but nowhere like the three and half hours it took for them. And they don't bush camp, only known them to do caravan parks - have no provision for powering fridge, lights etc., except for single battery in car. Oh, well each to his own I suppose.

Some do have more moving parts than a Swiss watch and seem to take an extraordinary length of time to decamp. Most now have dual power outlets to make 240 in van parks and option

Sorry Wombat 280 - meant that apart from a powered site in a cp, which is what they now do, and the single battery in vehicle, they have no generator or solar panel to charge the battery if they go outside a cp - i.e. free camp - and as we all would know, vehicle battery won't last long running fridge, light, radio and the like without some way of recharging. They seem to think that because the vehicle battery is large, it will power anything, after all that's what the dealer told them.

I have 2 batteries in the truck and I'd never rely on them. I can only flatten 1 battery and the 2nd battery is always ready to start my engine. I also run the sign and lights on the main no. 1 battery. The sign has an electric motor for raising and lowering from the comfort of the cab. Unfortunately a small vehicle wouldn't be suitable to tow the van or to push the vehicle with the sign up. That takes grunt.
