We get some strange vehicles on Magnetic island, but here is an interesting one 1974 Kombi, owned by some travelling artisans, on the beach at Arcadia. They were going to the RSL markets tonight.I love old Kombis, having owned one myself. Stands out a bit, eh.

When I drove down the Mornington Peninsula the other week there was a van similar to a Transit for sale on the side of the road - it was covered completely (except for the windows) with fake grass. I should have taken a photo.

Good one Bill, look forward to the details etc. See if you can find out if they are from overseas and bought their vehicle with them, I have never seen anything like that in Oz before, mind blowing !!

Just been to the markets, and the kombi owners said they come from Indicar(in the car), and been traveling around , living off what they make from their art work for 5 years. Sound like they should be GNS.To that they said they are traveling itinerants. The guy gave me a few tips on digital tv areials. All in all, nice people. You meet all kinds on the road.
A family has been going to Broome every year that I was there (9) and frequented the markets with their wares. They had school-age kids and all sorts of stuff in their mobile home which looked like a huge slide-on on a 4 tonne truck. It was painted by hand. They camped wherever they liked for free, much to the disappointment of the Council. To each his/her own.

That Kombi must weigh a tonne or 2, plus freight. It's registered in Vic, so it must pass their specification laws. Pull up a chair man. Read your palm man? It's all cool man.

They said that they were going north to the markets at Mission beach and up to the Atherton Tablelands. Its certainly a hippy looking affair. Good luck to them. I asked them to join the forum, but thet reckon thet aren,t Gns.So keep your eyes open up north.
