Nappisan for Porta Pottie.

I have seen threads at different times that recommended Nappisan for Porta Potties.
Not having a pottie, I've only ever given these threads a quick glance.
We called in to our van builder yesterday morning to have a couple of freebie added before heading up along the Murray.

One of the things we left with was a Thetford porta pottie, but it came without sample  chemicals.
Jane went to the supermarket this morning and purchased their brand of nappisan, but we now need advice on what is the correct amount to use.

I was guessing about a cupful to 2 litres of water, but await your learned replies.
Also is there anything recommneded to add to the top (Flushing) water tank along with the water?
Cheers, Ozjohn.

Without going down to the compound to look at my book in the Van OJ, I can't remember the dosage for the nappisan.  Sorry

I know in the top tank or flush tank if you prefer and few drops of a concentrated disinfectant  such as Myo or whatever one you like is the go.

Also if you use the search feature at the top and put in nappy san you should come up with all the previous posts on the subject.

Good luck

Hi
We have used nappisan and it dose not work as good as the proper chemicals we bit the bullet and went back to chemicals the best and chepest at super cheap or K Mart and they work well. As nappisan do not break it down and still smelt.
Good luck Regards,

We swapped over to Napisan after the discussions on here and we have had no problems. We also put a little bit of Napisan in the top tank. It helps avoid any growth in the top tank and then just helps with the bottom tank when it gets there. We put about a tablespoon to2 litres water in bottom tank.

Have used Coles & Woolies branded 'nappy san' for years ...  all good (solids included).

If you want a nice smell there are lots of essential oils that you can spray or sprinke around the unit.  We don't.

Use one cap full of nappy treatment with a litre of warm water (to disolve it) in the holding tank.

Good for at least 4 days.  Then either empty it or add a bit more to extend a few days.

Make sure than after you clean the potti,  whatever chemical you use, that you spray a little olive oil on the seals to preserve them & on the bowl to give it the slip factor!

When putting the potti away after a trip .. add a double dose & fill it right to the top with warm water.  Keep turning it over to all sides for a few days.  Then empty & leave air with vents open for a couple of days.  Good as new if you do this regularly.

I don't have a Top Tank in my set up.  But if you do, a dash of 'Cuddly' is said to be a good cheap option.

Hi ozjohn, This is a change, being able to offer some advice for you rather than the other way around. We do not have a porta pottie, but in our cassette we have been using whatever brand name nappisan for some time with good result. I seem to remember there were no problems using this product 36 yrs ago on soaking & cleaning my children's nappies either. The dose I use in the cassette is a capful, but if you prefer you could always add a little more, & to assist with odour prevention a few drops of Eucalyptus Oil works a treat.

Regards Terry
