RE: Caravan Park cliques

Yes it's noisy but the residents/guests of the park got free passes to the speedway. It's actually a very fun event, and the hamburgers are produced by that SDA church mob I think.
If you're not into speedway you could go along and laugh at the antics. It doesn't go very late, and it's really a family event.

Hmmmm.......we never got offered any free passes, our site was the closest one to the fence too.   I can't see the SDA mob making hamburgers, SDA's are vegetarian bleh

Haven't you heard of vegetarian burgers Vic? My friend is a SDA, and she makes vego pies, sausage rolls, hamburgers - some of the stuff you can't tell the difference between it and real meat, especially her vege pepper steak pie - yum, my mouth is watering now!!!

Ummmm.......don't think they would go down too well at a race track (or footy venue), I have had most vege alternatives.   Got food poisoning in Cairns from a Lentil Burger sold by a vege fast food place in town.  furious

Maybe the new owners who did the huge makeover including installing a pool, don't do the free passes.
I thought it was a great gesture considering the circumstance.
Just because someone is a vegetarian, doesn't mean they don't handle meat.
I didn't know SDA's were vego's, but I'm pretty sure it's a church group. Maybe is the pentacostal church Christian Fellowship which does the burgers. They're good anyway.

It was still a Council Park when we were there, I'm talking about 2000, so a long time ago.

SDA's are Lacto Ova Vegetarians (No meat but do eat milk and milk products and eggs).

By the way, I don't know if the SDA Caravan Park at Broome is the same as the SDA one in Perth, but the Perth one does not allow alcohol to be consumed, including your RV's....

I haven't heard any SDA complaining about no happy hours. Maybe they're a bit tolerant just for the season.
I don't know that the Broome Van Park was ever council operated. I was sure it was private all along. I moved into Broome in 98, starting at Tarangau at Cable Beach until a site became available in Vacation Village, which had the best sites with ensuites for the best price, at the time.
It was sold in 2000 or 01 and most of the long-termers were kicked out, the sites were cleaned up, the amenities were renovated and in 2007 they put a pool in and extended the park as well.
Now the bypass turns off at about that area taking motorists around town to Cable Beach and the Port, behind Vacation Village.

Re the park next door to the CP, I think from memory it was about 5kms from Broome on the way into town. I am pretty sure we were told it was a Council Park, but a long time ago and probably wrong.

This is what the SDA park in Perth sent me in regards to my enquiry a littl while back, the sites look nice in the pics on the website, they have about 30 odd and it looks like they may be drive through;

"Vic thanks for your enquiry. We charge $30.00 per night and we have a $50.00 refundable deposit required for our electronic keys. At those rates we only do cash or cheque. Since we are a church camp ground we do have a few rules we live by and these are; we are a smoke, alcohol, drug and pet free site. If you would like to abide by those rules we would love to have you come and stay with us. If we can be of any further help please feel free to contact us. "

Looks like it depends on where they are Barrie, maybe because the one in Perth caters mainly to SDA's or perhaps a stricter Manager.   Even with the restrictions, I may do a stay sometime to see what it is like.

I can see you are a man who likes a beer, so probably the Perth one wouldn't be much good for you, although you could be an "internal" drinker who hides his empties (the park police might check the bins) biggrin

I just love your determination, confidence and independence to do the many things many of us only dream about.  And it would be so much harder by yourself as in a way you are exposed, you have the make the first move because the couples through their own believes, attitudes and values are going to in the majority of times not make the first move to say Hi, and you know that is all about them and their confidence and nothing to do with you.  Because you are confident, you are determined and you are willing to put yourself out there it exposes their own short comings.

So be yourself and say Hi and if you don't get the response you want, say it a different way, and do it again and feel uncomfortable with the process.  Because at the end of the day you will get the friendship you believe you want, because if you believe that all you will get is crabby people who are not friendly - guess what that is what you will get.  Because the people you meet become a reflection of you, but I know you are more than that you have so much to give, so much to teach and so much to share - so do that today and if you get a cold shoulder, wish them a happy day and know it has nothing to do with you but everything to do with them.  What a role model you are and I can't wait to I go travelling and can be everything you are now.  Thank you for sharing.  Leanne
