RE: Toyota Regius or Granvia

Yes, Gayle it lifts at the front. This bloke suggested it was easier to do than the usual poptop, but I'll be asking the professionals about that.

My b-i-l at Cooloola Cove has offered to do the fitout for me if I choose to go that way. That'd be a huge saving. And I know he'd do an excellant job.

Thanks Vic for those sites. I've had a good look at them. Through one of those, I found this on youtube.

Had a look at that Beth, think I would get tired of making the bed up all the time, unless it can be left down ok.

If you do get your BIL to do the conversion, if he's not too confident doing the cut out and fitting for the roof pop he could just get that done by the professionals and do the rest. Not too sure what they would charge though.

Good luck and keep investigating the options before you make the decision.

No, I don't think he'd do the cut out, but the internal fitout is right up his ally.

And yes, that's true, I wouldn't want to have to make the bed up every night.

Gotta agree with Vic. re the bed Beth.  Mine's permanently made up.   As for the Pop-top, I can still manage it at the moment, but will be getting Air-lifters fitted as soon as I save enough.

I think they cost around $1,000. fitted.

Forgot to measure it again today Vic.   Have put it on my list of jobs for tomorrow, or Ill get side-tracked again.

Took Pics looking down on step from above, and one of where the Jack fits.  It's opposite side to the Compartment, which holds the handle pieces.

Thanks Sheba,

Mine has jack, tool bag (which has a few tools, folding jack handle and removable towing hook that screws into hole trhough front bumper) on the left side and nothing on the right. I notice that Frontline conversions has the fire extinguisher on the right side of the step, mine is inside near the stove.

That makes yours 4876.8mm.....4877mm near enough.

The must have changed the length on LWB's at one stage as they are now 4695mm.

SLWB's (Super Long Wheel Base) are currently 5380mm.......

So assuming your year was a LWB, it is 182mm (18.2cm) longer than mine. confuse

Beth, anything you look at from overseas, get an insurance quote before buying, if you go that way. I know certain o/s vehicles they will class as an import and the insurance can be pretty vicious mate. wink

Thanks Firefly. I think I've pretty much gone off the imports for all those reasons.

I think I'll start another thread to get away from this subject title.
