Mates rates

I was just sitting in front of the T V watching Coxy's Holiday show thing..( Sat Night) 30th July)...And I thought......Would'nt it be great if caravan parks Throughout Aussie  had a mates rates Section..... How do my fellow Members feel about  that?

Ps   Hows it going Popeye ?

Not sure what this entails !   like a club Discount maybe.

We are in CMCA and get a discount in some parks,  and a lot of other businesses as well.

Thats why the various Park Chains have their member schemes.

Pay a fee to be a member (become a "Mate") and you get a % off your site fee.

As well as CMCA, there is RACV and Seniors cards. I know you can get discounts at certain places with either of them.
How would you do a mates rates one?, I know with some of those TV travel programs they do have a mates rates if that program is mentioned. I was watching Discover Downunder on the other channel.

Well!  Peoples with, What you are saying  is all well and good...But  you have too mention that you are a Member of this, or a Member of that to   get that %   off I'd like to see  signs of said deals.......Like! One goes to a caravan park and there are no Rates displayed..  I 'd like too see a sign..Saying Mates Rates apply here...Or some other means of knowing what I'm up for.....

I agree with you totally jimbo, and its so annoying. Each of my cards has a book which I have to go through to see where I will get the discounts and I always forget to take them with me. Time to store them in the van permanently I think.

I should have added, nothing annoys me more than driving into a town looking for a c/p. No prices up at the gate and having to go in  to ask before you can decide if you want to stay there. I have been caught out often like that and ended up staying at places dearer than I would have liked.

We are presently here at Barilla Holiday Park on the eastern shore out from Hobart, and did we get a good deal!!! Hobart Showgrounds is for self contained vehicles and $20/nt - no showers. Here at Barilla we got 7 nts for the price of 6 PLUS another 10% discount for being members of an auto club eg RACQ - that made it $19.29/nt!!! Wonderful!

Not only can you not find a park price, but you can't find a park. The signs are so small, tucked behind a bush or not there at all.
I look for the little blue caravan sign. With the van on the back it's hard to just keep driving around a town looking for a park.
I was a member of Big 4 and Top Tourist but I'm not now as I'm not on the road full time.
Some parks honour Seniors Card, auto club membership as well as the franchise membership.
The park I'm in now charges $28, stay for 7, pay for 6, and that applies to the long-term rate.
I didn' realise a caravan traveller could join CMCA as they are faily specific about campervan and motorhome owners.
Sometime you just have to ask. It's that simple. But be prepared for a knock back.
If it's the hyper tourist places, I don't like your chances, but if it's an out of the way place with minimal traffic, the chances of getting personal service and a discount is very possible. They want the word to be spread about their hospitality.
Some operators in the hospitality industry need to learn what the word means and what the industry is all about.

Hi everyone, we recently stayed in the REALLY big caravan park at Longreach, the lady behind the desk asked if we were a member of the chain, can't remember which one it was now, anyway I said no and she then said very quietly say yes, so I did and she gave us the discount, which I thought was very nice of her. They were so busy she really didn't have to bother but now I will stay there whenever we are passing through.

To qualify for "mates rates" you'd have to have mates. Which mates would qualify for the rates?
Who would you have to be mates with to qualify?
I think the franchise system works pretty well. You decided which ones to join and patronise and get the benefits.
You could start a franchise called "Mates Rates".
