Hi folks, I have tried the search area but unable to find a solution to the waeco problem. I have a 60l frig/freezer. It was going wonderfully until last week I tried to set it up again. I set it to -10celsius, it blinked a couple of times (as normal) and then reverted to 61farenheit yet it was showing 61 degrees and frozen solid the week before. Its about 2 years old now having bought it in 2009 at the batemans bay caravan show. Dont have the receipts either probably in storage at Nowra. We are in Julia Creek for the next 3 months and doesnt appear to be any agents here. Any ideas to fix the problem please would be appreciated. Hope to use it next week at the Isa rodeo. Cheers Terry
Is the fridge actually working and showing wrong temp, or is it not working at all? Our mate DeBe is the Waeco king. I'm sure he'll have a clue. If you set it to your selected temp and then it reverts to another temp, that is usually indicating the actual temp of the fridge before it gets down to you chosen temperature. Eventually, fairly quickly, it will be down to your selected temp. Do want fridge or freezer? I set mine to -18degC for freezer. It's operating on a transformer since the 240V circuit board died.

Hi Topcat, what are you useing to see the temp in the fridge. "is it on board or a aftermarket temp" the on board temps need a new batt. from time to time as in the Engels ect.. I use the Engel type temp probe with a wire and thermister. Are the goods still frozen in the box? if so its going ok just the temp batt. maybe flat.. Hope this helps..Bob
Now back home in mildura...

There is a weaco dealer in Townsville as I had my 35ltr fridge fixed.Didn,t last long, though, and now I have a different brand. The electronics don,t seen to like the humidity in the tropics. The new on runs great , and gets down the -18c, but I run it at-2C.Engels seem to be the best brand, and most robust. Here are 2-cj mckinnon air con 0408458634,T,ville caravan repairs,0747779056. I hope this helps. Bill

we tried all different fridges did the waeco job, and many others too i gotta say i would never buy anything anymore but engel i know the worst part is they dont run on gas but you can get the inverter and run it off a battery and have a spare thats what we do we get one out of the car put it on the ground run the fridge till its nearly flat then put it in the car and drive around to charge it back up again .
My hubbys mother had an engel that we have only just picked up from the central coast its the old mustard coloured one she had it going on freeze only for fifteen years straight, the fridge itself is at least thirty years old now, its still going strong she used it as a second freezer.
We have now inherited that fridge and so we now have two of them, we have the newer one its grey and we bought it second hand from a guy in rainbow beach ,it was 750 bucks but i tell you what it was immaculate just like everything the man owned.
many years ago with my previous partner we owned the old mustard coloured one it was huge it had two big baskets in it and we purchased it from a c/van place in gordon st port mcq ,it also was 750 bucks it went everywhere into the gulf, up to the cape and as far as i know its still goin strong .
Cant go past an Engel and when people talk to me about fridges i refuse to say any other word lol So its ENGEl all the way for me.
Good luck with your waeco though ,i personaly have never heard a good word about them , but then again that was years ago im talking about they could of gotten better .
Couple of years ago we were camped at Gregory River, and thought our Bushman fridge, which we were using as a freezer, was not working, as the display was giving a very high reading (don't know the technicalities, John was the "fridge" person) - anyway, the food didn't thaw out, and when we got down south, took it to a place, turned out the LED termperature display unit was faulty.
So fridge was actually working, but the display was faulty.
