Gday...

I was at the Jericho free-camp on the Jordan river for three nights last week.

It is a really lovely, quiet and enjoyable camp. Most camp down right on and along the river where there is room for at least 20 vans. The camp area is very large and if not wanting to be close to the water, there is plenty of level, fairly grassy, space.

Toilets are clean, but the 'shower' as shown in Camps 6, is an outdoor cold-only shower. There is a Donation box near the toilet block.

Strong mobile and internet coverage and TV (SBS, ABC, 7Central, Impaja) is strong.

There are roadworks in the town which changes the directions shown in Camps 6. To get to the free camp when entering from the east (from Alpha) as you go over the railway crossing, turn left at the first street (not following the highway into town). Then just follow this road around to the right and down to the free-camp.

I think this 'road' they are building is also a levee for future floods.

Bread, milk etc is cheaper at the pub rather than the General Store so I was told. It is an easy (and pleasant in this weather) walk into town. Pub has $10 lunch and & dinner - good value.

Cheers

John

Hi Norma. You are doing well. lucky girl. Is Shady travelling ok??
I thought I had some info on Jericho but only minimal. I spent yesterday redoing all my books of info provided by ones on here. Have set up a new exercise of each state so a lot easier to find.
Will now go and add all that rockylizard put up above. Great in John

Are you free camping all the time?

Gday...

I 'bush' camp (it's getting to be politically in-correct to say 'free'blankstare) at least 3 to 4 nights then a couple of nights in van parks in (small) towns to catch up with shopping, washing, cleaning the van (ahhh - a man's work is never doneno).

Apart from the much better environment for being away from the lights and bustle, bush camps help contain costs.

Cheers

John

Norma, a fair distance between where you are now and Jericho. Have you worked out which way you are going to travel?

Hope to come up in October but not sure of the finances, will need so many more things for Myrtle. Batteries, new curtains etc. I have a list a mile long. Will see how I go.

Just had a thought. I might be able to get halfway up, meet up with you all and travel back together. Anythings possible.

Good to see Shady is doing so well with the travelling, makes it so much easier.

Yep Rosie. ready made from Spotlight. But only have to buy half as they need to be shortened, then use the bottom half to make the remaining.
Buy some tape and add at the top of the bottom half. Hem the first shortened ones. The second lot will already be hemmed so only need the tape at the top.
I'm going to hang curtain wire along behind the seats so can use a tab top for that one and as its only 1.20m will only need one single curtain to cover that area. Whereas now it goes right around the front windows and takes 2.40m so will save a bit more money that way.
Sportlight have readymades at 50 % off at the moment but can't get over there.
