Happily Wandering

Hi all, Having a good look around some of the country in behind the Sunshine Coast, currently sitting on the shores of Wivenhoe Dam (Camps6 site 522). My GPS has taken me over some rather unique routes between destinations - it must be programmed for "Max Adrenaline"! I must admit it has brought me thru some very interesting country I wouldn't have realised existed if I'd followed main roads, I just hope it realises my vehicle is NOT a 4wd. I've been to Imbil, Lake Borumba, Yabba Creek, Browns Creek Rest Area and plan to go thru the D'Aguilar Nat'l Park tomorrow on the way to Brisbane. Traveling solo in a HiAce poptop is a new experience and a very pleasant one I am finding. The van is set up for stopping frequently to connect to 240V, so I'm still finding out its capabilities, or lack thereof, and how best to set up for my individual needs, which will include much free camping. I've received good advice from this Forum and people I have met along the camps. It is good to see from the Forum people are getting out & about, so if you see me, stop by for a cuppa. In September I am planning a run to Townsville via the scenic route, inc Carnarvon Gorge and back along the coast, at least as far as Bundaberg. So much great country out here to see! Cheers, Anton

Was wondering how you were going Anton, certainly sounds as though you are having a great time getting to know the Hi-Ace. My GPS did that to my last year, no matter how often I pressed NO to unsealed roads it persisted in taking me there, got on the Burke and Wills track in Victoria at one stage, just the width of my Mazda 3!!

My Hi-Ace is now behaving after an electrical hiccup and as I speak just watching the sun set over the river at Fitzroy Crossing in a lovely park having spent part of the day cruising up Geike Gorge and being introduced to fresh water crocs in the wild :)

Cheers
Jo

Hi Anton

Pleased to see that you are happily wandering....

Wish I had known earlier that you were at Wivenhoe as it is less
than half an hour from me and we could have met up for a cuppa and a chat.

Enjoy the D'Aguilar National Park tomorrow. Hope to catch up some other time
somewhere "out there".

Cheers. Pam. smile
