Nomadsnotes users

Any GNs using the Nomadsnotes program to record their travels and would care to comment on usefulness, ease of use etc.? Cheers, Tony

I bought the programme about 18 months ago Tony and to my mind it was money wasted.  Couldn't get it to work, but maybe that's just me.  I know there are a couple of people on the forum who have it and think it's just the thing.

I didn't think it was very user friendly at all.

I created most of the folders using Open Office a free program similar to Microsoft Office.

Find that I can keep track of things well with that at no cost. The macros in the petrol usage can be tricky but can send you a copy of mine if you wish.

Thanks for the offer John but being computer stupid as I am I think for the time being I will stick with the old pen and paper method.

I tried it some time ago but had trouble with it "hanging" and or "crashing" when using it on my home computer (XP Home). It was more stable when I tried it on my laptop (XP Pro) but I found it to be "clunky" and not user intuitive especially in regard to data entry. In fairness the suppliers did try to help me overcome the problems on my home computer and in the end agreed to refund my purchase.

Have been using it for this trip and once I read the user manual on the net - find it ok to use.

We did have some teething problems with it sticking or hanging but there is an update version now and all seems to be going well.

used the program 12 mths ago - it was not very user friendly and I am very computer literate and have used many software programs since 1984 - so when I got frustrated with it hubbie will not look at it - once I got the hang of it - it is ok but had some problem of hanging, not able to change things easily - great idea and when you do it right it gives you good info. My view needs improvement.

Many thanks for the (not unexpected) replies. If it's not user friendly, then it's not for this little black duck!
I have a lovely A5 size Pukka Pad project book, complete with 250 pages of very good quality paper and some plastic pouches which seem idea for receipts etc. Add a pen, and I have the ideal, user friendly, glovebox-size trip recording system. And it will never crash, hang or otherwise irritate me. Or require power. Cost about $5.
Cheers, Tony
