Western Flora CP

This is entirely unofficial, and I hope that Cindy doesn't mind me posting here (?):

We've been at the above caravan park, 20 km north of Eneabba, WA, for the last week but have to leave tomorrow for a house-sit in Geraldton. For the last couple of days I've been helping a little by minding the shop for a couple of hours per day and chatting to campers, as the couple who usually do this had to leave unexpectedly. Allan & Lorraine Tinker, who own the park, are a bit over-stretched. (Allan does a walking tour of the flowers every afternoon and a tag-along three times a week.)

It's a lovely park, lots of wildflowers at this time of year, and Allan is extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. If any GNs are in the area and willing to lend a hand, either PM me or even contact the Tinkers direct; it could be an opportunity to free-camp for a bit while enjoying the flower season...and you'll be helping out some lovely people!

Cheers --

Andrea

It's a good spot, Jimbo; maybe next year!

It certainly is Adrea, I did a couple of visits there and Allan's informative walks.

As you know, the walks are free to anyone staying at the park, but day visitors can also do the walk upon payment of a fee.

This is where I had an experience with a bobtail lizard poking his nose in between my thong and foot. I don't think Cindy would mind me posting a link to this park, it is such an unusual experience in caravan parks and as you would also know Alan is a recognised authority in regards to wilflowers and has found many previously unknown species. Link for the park;

Yes, Vic, Allan's knowledge of that area is immense, and at least two species have his name to them. Even David Attenborough has been a visitor.

That encounter with the bobtail must have been interesting! No photos?!? smile

Put it in the Recommendations thread. Then it won't get lost.

No photo's taken, but you know the table near the kitchen, I was sitting on a seat there, my foot shot forward when I looked down and saw the scales, not realising what it was and I kicked a poor woman in the leg sitting opposite me disbelief

I do remember also turning up there and being shown and backed onto a site by a lady in the office, and as I was setting up this large caravan towed by a 4WD pulled up and this angry boofhead yelled at me that it was his spot and he had it every year.

The was an identical spot empty next to me (both behind the toilet/shower block) and his wife had got out to back him into that.  When I told him the office had put me there, he swore at me and planted his foot, taking off and leaving his poor wife standing there with an embarassed look on her face.   She apologised profusely and ran after him, he had gone somewhere to the sites behind the trees.  I later heard him cursing and swearing trying to set his annex up......hmmmm.....some people.......confuse biggrin

They really do make it hard on themselves, as well as their poor victims; I guess every park gets one of them occasionally! no

it was me biggrin

now I know what you really look like Vic biggrin

Na it wasn't really me, I like those sort of people, I usually stop what I'm doing and just stare at them, they usually go away after a short time.

That CP is a great spot.
