Hope you enjoy SA Billeee now that you are really there. Those Vics probably stole those emus you saw. Mt Gambia is beautiful and all the area around Robe.

Cheers

Robe has quite an interesting history, we read the signs and took in the views of old streets one was named in 1845, but what caught my attention was a history discussion stating that there was a cannery in Robe and they canned swans and called them Robe Geese and parrots calling them rabbits.

My optus dongle would not go online yesterday when we were at 42 Mile Crossing but now all is well at a free site along the river at Mannum just south of the ferry.

Had another excellent day, we are at Mannum and camped at a free site on the banks of the Murray, have posted a picture of the ferry crossing (a highlight of the day) and one of a paddle boat passing our site.

Been annoyed endlessly with my long hair even to wearing the beanie to keep it in place so I went mad and shaved it all off together with the beard and mustache, Billeee's only comment when he finished laughing was that I should grow my hair and start a beard. Probably get a photo tomorrow and change the avatar.  All exciting stuff we get up to.

Hey I lived in Mannum for a little while. lovely town and the local cafe had the best fish and chips ever. It's a great spot and really nice to camp by the river. Geeze you are still travelling so fast. Looking forward to seeing photo's of your new image John. Hope you and Billeeee don't get arrested for inattention.... maybe they really meant "inner tension" and were really telling everyone to relax and chill out.

Here we are at Port Parham 347 Camps6 and Billeee is having access problems with his Telstra dongle whilst for a change my Optus one is working very well.

We called in to see Cruising Granny, a true asset for the Grey Nomad's forum, the song "I've been everywhere mate" must have had her as a role model. She made us welcome with a cup of coffee and we talked until she had to leave for an appointment. The jobs she has done is amazing as well as the places she has been.

Not sure how the new look is panning out but it will take another year to get back to as I was yesterday.1.JPG2.JPG

Yeah, we did catch up. These guys will tell you anything over a cuppa, or was it for a cuppa? Mmmm
They just had to have a picture to prove they met Cruising Granny in real life and in person.

Glad to see you guys met with Granny - bet there were some laughs at the table. John, I sort of like the new look, may grow on me - but I can understand why - you want to try being a woman and worrying about hair while on the road - and there is no way I would shave mine off!!!!
Enjoy SA - keep us posted, both of you.
Special g'day to Billeeee!!!

Great look 10 years younger, if only us women could do that to look younger, then again maybe we could.

As posted by Billee on 19/09, I worked on the Murray River Queen out of Goolwa in 1977 for about 3 months. It's a great way to see the river and the community of wildlife which inhabits the banks. The Queen is now based in Waikerie.
The Murray River Princess is based at Mannum, and was a sister ship to the Queen, built by the Veenstra family.
The Murray is looking so flush right now and back to it's former glory, after being very low 2 years ago.
