ha,ha,ha - Norma and I said exactly that when we were watching as well - hard to believe he can feel the song with the emotion required, just looks too perfect and feminine - think it is the hair. One of my grandsons says - "what happens when his voice changes?" Think he needs to rethink the hair.

well Jules .. If I'm right, then it won't change .. and I'll be very surprised if the current 'status' doesn't become more obvious ..

but .. to each their own .. as they say ..

I was told that if they're singing all the time, they're voice doesn't actually 'change' in that crackly way. It just gets deeper without any hassles.

I have a 'claytons' nephew who's been doing theatre since he was a bout 12. His voice just got a little deeper. He is also effeminate...as you say Jon, to each their own, that's just the way he is.

As for Jack Vigen, I think he has an amazing voice! And several of the 'final 12' do too. Although they're now the final 11!

My favourite is Reece. He's a natural!

I think young Jack must have had an amazing singing teacher, and his parents have the money to invest in the best singing lessons. He certainly is talented with a natural ability, but it takes a good music/singing teacher to get the best out of it. And they've certainly done that.

I remember seeing some footage of Johnny Farnham about that age, he looked similar to young Jack and his voice was much the same, and see what a great singer he turned out to be.

Be interesting to see what happens to his voice when his gonads drop ! wink ashamed no

I agree Vic, his voice is very similar to John. And he was a 'pretty boy' too.

That's what I thought too Beth, remember Sadie The Cleaning Lady, for want of a better word he looked a bit "poofy" too then.

Hey hey! That's my John you're talking about!  wink

But I know what you mean. I've been a huge fan of his since I was about 12!

Well .. how times fly .. I met Johnny Farnham back in the old days long before he sang Sadie .. In those times he was living (I believe) in Victoria .. but used to spend a lot of time in South Australia ..

Prior to his days of Sadie, he used to sing, backed up  by various groups at the Glenelg Town Hall right beside the Jetty ..

Friday and Saturday nights was the "Shindig" .. where up and coming young upstarts like yours truly would travel to share their presence on the dance floor with all the roses and wall-flowers he could find .. all the others just missed out on one helluver good time ..

I read an interview with John Farnham the other day. He said when he was young people thought he was gay. As he said, How wrong they were.

Jack Vidgens parents are divorced, His mother has brought him up solo and his dad has a life threatening illness, so don't think there would be too much money around for expensive lessons.

I'm a bit confused here. Wasn't Jack in Aus Got Talent, and didn't he win??

Some time ago, I read a biography of his life. It was a very old biography...but I thought it very interesting.

So even though Jack Vigen is effaminate, it doesn't mean he will be gay. He may turn out to be a SNAG...ie:sensitive new age guy. Which is lovely for the ladies!

How many remember Bandstand? If you do can you remember the De Kroo Brothers? Leo De Kroo married Judy Stone (now divorced long ago).

I knew Leo when he was a lad like me, a country and western guitar teacher taught him to play the guitar, then he won an Elvis Presley contest in Perth, a talent scout from Bandstand teamed him up with the bloke who came second and they called them the De Kroo brothers.

Anyway, a few years ago I was listening to talk back radio in Dubbo, and who was the announcer? None other than Leo De Kroo. I rang him up and got to meet him at the station.

I remember Bandstand, but not the DE Kroo Brothers.

I wonder how many of us have crossed paths with someone famous.

Mine isn't a singer, but John Newcombe. His sister used be my sister-in-law, from my first marriage. We had Christmas Day at his house many moons ago. Nice man, nice family.

Billeee I have to ask if "high pedestrian activity" means tall people walk there?

I've done a few "gigs" at the Glenelg Town Hall. When I was in the Immanuel College choir we did concerts and presentation nights there, and in the Adelaide Town Hall. There's a magnificent pipe organ there, and played by James Thiele it was an honour to be there and part of it. Not exactly rock and roll.
I went to an outdoor concert at the Glenelg Oval "Tiger-land", to see Doug Parkinson and the band In Focus, and another band I think was Axiom. Then there was Peter, Paul and Mary at the Centenial Hall (awful venue in those days.)

I don't think MY John Farnharm nor Jack Vidgen are effeminate. I've always considered them to be well presented, neat and tidy and clean, sophisticated and make the most of their talent.
Even if his mum is a sole parent, it doesn't mean she didn't have the resources to ensure Jack got the best training. He obviously has a natural talent, but it takes a good teacher to get the best, and a supportive family to help and encourage him to follow his ambition with that voice.

Vic...I remember the De Kroo Brothers....Leo and Doug....
Often wondered what happened to them. Next time I'm in Dubbo, I'll listen in and try to hear Leo.  smile

Billeeeeeee.....I think Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs were great....
A few years ago, Billy Thorpe put together the "Long Way To The Top" concerts with a huge lineup of the stars from 50's, 60's and 70's. What a GREAT GIG that was!!!!!

Jon and Beth....Think John Farnham is great too. Have seen him live several times. Always fabulous.

Ma, I have seen Gerry and The Pacemakers and really loved their show. Does Blue still sing?

CG, Brian Cadd, from AXIOM, still does a great show!! Saw him again recently with Russell Morris (The Real Thing). The crowd still go wild!! Doug Parkinson is a great talent too!!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane guys....and thank God I can still remember where it is!!  biggrin  biggrin  biggrin

I thought I'd better explain what a SNAG was for you baby boomer blokes! wink

Pam, I've seen John Farnham a few times too, but none of the others you mention. I would have liked to though. I read Billy Thorpes autobiography...what a wild boy he was! And his book is so funny too!

Twin Towns RSL is a great venue to see a lot of those early stars. I've seen the Deltones several times, Col Joye, Jade Hurley...Love all the music from that era!
