Hi all,
As a novice to this long term solo travel caper could you please let me know approximately what c/v parks charge (a range) and what the single charge might be in comparison. I would like to think I would do mostly the free camp thing but will need to give it a little more of a go and gain my confidence a little more I guess. Most of my solo camping so far has been up the Murray free camping and have enjoyed that very much.
Thanks all
Tess
Reading these posts is just helping the excitement build, not long now. Gone by the end of the month.
Gee caravan parks charges cover such a big range. Can vary from $15/night to $50/night. Depends where you are. I don't think solo travellers get much in the way of discount. You can get your confidence up by staying in the freedom camps as you will just about always find someone else there who will give you good advice & good company. Cheers
Thanks so much. Really looking forward to the experience. Just read the post of the health scare of "someone". That is exactly the reason I'll be out there any minute.... Ta "the pod"
At least caravan parks quote their rates for two people, and not on the basis of "twin share" like other tour operators which means that not only do couples have to double the quoted price but singles have to add a "single supplement" to work out the real price. (in the case of twin-share prices that is).
I have found that solo travellers should advise "one person" when checking into a park and ask if there is a discount or single rate. Like Gerty D (above) I have found that mostly no such discount applies but some do offer a single rate or will charge the unpowered rate for a powered site. It pays to ask.
While I was away last I got single rates or a discount in a few places - but make sure you tell them you are alone - a couple of times the owner/manager gave me some money back when they realised I was by myself.
