But seriously, how hard is it to tell the freaking truth?!
If I say 'does the van have any water damage/leaks/rust/damage to windows/hatches/doors?' I want to know if it has any of those things. If I ask, 'Is the floor solid?' I don't want to arrive to find what feels like a saggy trampoline masquerading as a floor. And I sure as Hell do not want to end up with 1 foot THROUGH the allegedly solid floor!! Especially after driving 5 hours to look at this immaculate caravan you have for sale.
Can you tell I am sick of looking at over-priced rubbish? We saw a van the other day with busted doors, appliances, and a spongy floor. It was 'immaculate' according to it's owner, and worth every cent they were asking for it. I think I'd be better off with a swag, a 6x4 trailer, a gas cooker, some Aerogard and sunscreen, and take my chances.

We just got through running the gammit with car salesmen... still uncovering the lies we were told.
However, I am a firm believer in karma- whatever good you do will come back to you (and the other way around). So, all we can do is be honest and open in our dealings and you will find it ahead of you as well.
Tassie like WA I'm guessing is a relatively captive market. From what I can see there seems to be better value for 2nd hand vans in the Eastern states but then again it's a bit hard to go flying back and forth to verify. What did the vendor say when your foot went through the floor? It has the makings of a great comedy sketch but I hear and relate to your frustration loud and clear. Hope you find something to suit soon without too mcu more time wasters.
Hi Rosie, sorry you are having such a hard time. vermon sellers are like ****roaches they're everywhere. keep positive, it just means the universe has a van for you but as yet it is not for sale so they will continue to put obstacles in your way to prevent you buying. similar things like this happen to me from time to time and now I just give up knowing the universe will sort it out one way or the other.
Best of luck Rosie! Its hard enough dealing with new van salesmen, I can only imagine how difficult it is dealing with owner-sellers. Keep us posted with your adventures? I met a couple the other day who had bought a caravan second hand from the son of the former owner who had passed away. It came supplied with bedding, cookware, etc etc, and the price they paid was a real bargain! So it can happen, dont give up!
I looked for 18 months until I found the van with the layout, price and standard I needed. It was well-worth the wait, and despite the fact the van had some leaks, it's still my home, with the addition of a tube of Sikaflex and the exclusion of the leaks it came with. I'm not sure if the people knew it leaked. Some of the other leaks happened after I bought it and added a new awning, and made a couple of modifications which started out being minor, and ended up being major. For every down there's an up, and word of mouth is the best, or worst form of advertising. Spread the word.
