Hi everyone, i read the article about free camping in Bundaberg but i am reluctant to answer it there because my internet security says not to. does anyone know if windows host process (Rundll32) is correct and is it safe or not? But i will answer here. there once was free camping at petrie a pretty little spot but alas the privledge was abused..Perhaps in Bundaberg if they are supplying water and electricity they could charge a small fee and if there is a time limit then it must be enforced for the good of everyone, would even give one of their residents a job. Shark park near Canungra charges a small fee, has a caretaker and our time there was wonderful. I am sure no one would begrudge the ratepayers that. It would be a great shame if it were shut down as tourists spend money in their town that is much needed.
I've been to Bundy many times and can't recall free campers under that bridge, but weren't really looking for them either. There is a very good free camp on the way into Bundy, about half way between Childers and Bundy. Well off the road with a toilet as well. If wanting to look around Bundy it would be worthwhile using it at night and heading out to do the tourist thing during the day. No need to stay in public parks that don't supply free camping when there are plenty in the Camp Auswide book.

That's actually James Sharpe Park at Canungra rockert which is one side of the creek and Riverbend is on the other side...both part of the same lease. CAW6 #703.
Petrie was closed because the do gooders gave all the homeless from Brisbane tents and moved them all there.
The place went to the pack very quickly and the homeless just chucked their rubbish where they sat and also did their business. I lived about 10 minutes away and was a great place (only one in Brisbane as far as I know. Was used by travelers and a lot of northern people coming to Brisbane for medical treatment. I used to visit several couple who came there every month for the radiation etc. They had to move to Caboolture after Petrie was closed.
Was a great spot with shops close handy and the railway station to get people into the city.
Same old story the nomads get the blame. Spoke to many people in business and councillers but they all said it would never re-open.

Had a situation occur just recently. Arrived at freebie Boulder Creek CAW6 #60 which has camping area one side of the road and what appears to be a day use area with swings, picnic table, BBQ and toilet on the other side of the road.
Saw some locals with their car illegally parked, radio blaring, doors wide open, kids squealing and splashing about in the creek and picnic items on the table.
Upon their departure some hours later we found rubbish strewn all about the picnic area and the BBQ fire still burning and in a time of total fire bans.
We put the fire out and proceeded to clean up all their rubbish and took it out with us when we left as there are no rubbish bins provided.
And as you say Brian........WHO would have gotten the blame for that mess had we not cleaned it up??

hi Brian, you may have got the wrong idea. I did not blame the grey nomads i just said the privledge was abused. Everyone was welcome to use the free park grey nomads, homeless, whoever. i know it was not the grey nomads, I live nearby. have a good day. rocket and strop
