Where to stay in WA during Christmas School Holidays

Inland country towns would be cheaper in most cases, especially the smaller ones. Bruce Rock or Mukinbudin comes to mind.

You could ring and ask about caretaking over that period here, will take caravan/5th wheeler of smaller RV etc in caretakers spot, free in exchange keeping an eye on things at night.

Camping area in general will only take smaller RV's and tents, but not caravans. No dogs or pets. Near Chidlow on Gt East Hway, 50kms from Perth.

Sunseeker Nudist Club has powered sites with full use of facilities about 20kms from Perth, $25 per night, or do have exchange for duties free camping if you are into naturism, they are near the Gt Eastern Hwy too, no need to be a member of the club to stay there (so I have been told). See;

When we were travelling full time, we tried to spend the Xmas holiday period away from the coast, but that is not so easy in WA due to heat. I wonder if Perth itself would be better than anywhere on the coast.
Have you considered house sitting? Families going away for the holidays may provide somewhere to park up in exchange for minding house, pets etc.
You could try contacting the biggest caravan parks at the really popular destinations to see if they want short-term workers - might have a spot "up the back" for same.
It is probably too late for this summer, but camp ground hosting for National Parks could have been another solution.

Can't offer any help but I am looking for the same information, I am in Esperance and heading west then north. How far did you expect to travel prior to the holidays? My expectations are not to reach Perth until after the holidays.

We did house sitting near Mandurah (cool sea breezes) Oct/Nov/Dec last year then did Jan/Feb as camp hosts in the national park (Contos campground) near Margaret River

Hi,check out outback links and workabout australia. plenty of harvest work inland depending on what you would like to do. Outback links is volunteer site run by uniting church. usually offer accomodation in return for some assistance on peoples properties.

you could try around the Yanchep area, a little north of Perth. If you want to be near the coast. plenty of work inland but as someone said very hot.
Mingenew, Three Springs, Morawa, Perenjori and Carnamah have cheap parks, nice social towns, Carnamah about 100ks from the coast. now would time to settle into one of these towns if you wanted work.

If a nudist park has the same sort of scenery as the occasional nudist beach I have walked past (unplanned - honest) then the lens cap would probably stay firmly on.

Most people are better with their clothes ON.

Joe, you are correct, BUT there is always the one or two that are worth a second look biggrin

A couple we knew in a caravan club we belonged to went there fairly often, reckoned it was great. If you'd seen them I think you'd leave your lens cap on too! I would imagine from the link that there would be many female beauties there too but I doubt they would allow camera's.....

The male in the couple that went there is deceased now, maybe it was all too much for him. Agree most grey nomads look better in their clothes, he was tall and lanky, and she was skinnier than twiggy, must have been an awsome sight!

A couple of places in Perth I can think of but will cost, are where Blaze is staying at Karryinyup Waters (Karryinyup is an inner Perth coastal suburb) or Dunco stayed at the Central Caravan Park (near the airport) which is not fancy but prices were reasonable I think.

Pretty well anywhere in or near Perth is expensive. Crystal Brook c/p near the airport (not to be confused with the SA one) may be cheaper but not fancy and a number of permanents, this is where that Daniel Morcombe murder suspect was found before being enticed to Brisbane and arrested. Cherokee Village north of Perth on Wanneroo Road may be worth checking out too.

There are a couple on the coast just south of Fremantle too, if you google Fremantle Caravan parks it should bring them up.

Hope you manage to find a house sit ok, will be a lot cheaper and with a lot of people going away over X'mas may be a good time to find one.

Thank you all for your suggestions. While we did appreciate Vic's first suggestion we agree with the majority with regards to the sights you see at nudist beaches either accidentally or deliberately! A lot of good ideas that we had not thought of and housesitting does sound an attractive option. Once again this forum has been a great help to us and we certainly appreciate all of the friendly advice given.

Stevo, you might try calling Camp Wattle Grove (08 9453 6217; 59 Kelvin Rd, Wattle Grove). It's not an official caravan park - actually a camp ground used by schools, youth groups, etc. - but we've stayed there in our van a couple of times. They have a handful of semi-permanents there. Not sure what they do over Christmas but worth a call if you'd like a peaceful spot not far from Perth.
