Ma...I like apple sandwiches...but haven't yet tried them with Smith's chips.

My favourite sandwich is a baked dinner sandwich....roast lamb, potato, pumpkin, onion, veges, gravy and mint sauce......yummy!!

My Dad always said that good sandwich making is an art, and that he taught Dagwood how to make sandwiches.
Maybe he was fibbing smile....but he sure made great sandwiches!

GS...I had an Aunt who always made a meat pie sandwich.

Not for me.....not even seperately!.... or perhaps on second thoughts -  maybe it's a way to make something from Maccas actually edible!

 Now that's just disgusting! disbelief

Maybe it was an attempt to make tripe edible!  don't like F. T.'s chances though!

What about a Banana hamburger that doesn't contain any bananas!

Weird? not really, because I'm talking about the you beaut hamburgers from the truck stop in Banana, near Biloela in Central Qld.

(after that effort, get back in your cage, Jim!)

Many years ago when we were first married, my better half had a go at me because I wouldn't cook tripe in front of Mum who loves it, so now everytime Mum cooks it she makes enough for him, he actually does not like it but he has to eat it..Ha Ha

These recipes are becoming all a bit weird for my taste!

Beth, love your latest avatar! Not far from the truth the other day in the CP in Bowen - in the drive through sections anyway! Luckily we are on an end site, with no long term neighbours.

In college (boarding school) we did anything to get more out of our "rations".
Cheese was plentiful to we made golden syrup and cheese sarnies, and on Sunday we had honey so it was cheese and honey.
As a child metwurst and apricot jam was a fave, and black or white pudding with apricot jam.
We had plenty of apricot jam thanks to Grandma's culinary expertise.
We also had fried black puding with apricot jam.
Beetroot sandwiches are a fave - just bread, butter and beetroot slices. Cheap and tasty.
When JimRicho makes a loose reference to bread he knows what he's talking about. He makes the best bread I've ever, that's EVER, tasted. The "Bread Man" left me a loaf one morning in Cairns. It didn't last long.
(I was going to refer to the "Bread Fairy", but that is not politically correct.)

I know what you mean Dunmowin...

I heard a few more weird foods today.

...d-i-l likes cheese and vegemite on crumpets..

...girlfriend likes toast with crunchy peanut paste, HAS to be crunchy, poached egg, and BBQ sauce...

...niece-in-law likes salted pop corn and maltezers together.

disbelief

A lot of these are still not not what I would class as wierd.  They were just standard when I was a kid.

Cheers,

Sheba.

That's one of the few that I would call wierd Beth, but the Vegemite and Cheese, and quite a few of the ones with Pickles  I wouldn't.

Cheers,

Sheba.

It seems that my vegemite and honey is not so weird after all.

A friend made banana and mayonaise sandwiches for a party and was quite offended when nobody would try them!

I love peanut butter and jam or honey, also add some sultanas and its a meal in itself. And hot crumpets with philly and vegemite is a standard with us!

As a kid, we often had sliced luncheon meet (used to come in a plastic covered roll or knob) with plum jam on it. And while it isn't so weird, we used to love bread and dripping and salt and pepper. If we ever have breakky at Maccas, I always get maple syrup for my hash browns too.

I remember my Mum talking about having dripping on sandwiches.

How about fresh cream...when we had a cow...on a slice of bread with jam or sugar sprinkled on it.

Also, when I was a kid, I'd have the leftover porridge..rolled oats..when I got home from school. Cold, with lashings of sugar. My siblings thought I was mad!
