My First Van

Here was my first van,all the mod cons, gas fridge, airconditioned(two flaps at each end)Flying Doctor Two Way for entertainment at night(used to listen to Sarah Henderson talking to her outstation in the Kimberlys, before she was famous). I was in the Gulf Country                    One night my gas had run out , so I left the fridge door open with my last bit of food , some corned beef. I was sitting outside by the fire and heard a noise in the van , had a look and spotted this wild cat escaping out the back hatch with my corned beef!!

Used to have to put these special rocks in water in a can (carbide rocks)with a spout on it and it gave off a gas which you lit ,and gave off a bright light for lights.

Pilots used to get lost because the tin house they used as a reference in the desert was not there when they came back.
