Purchased a new ford ranger last friday from a major dealer in bendigo, after having been given a good deal on the trade in, they increased the price of the new vehicle to compensate for the good trade in.
the price originally qouted was for a manual and add $2k for the auto,other dealers had the lower price for the auto, so of course BUYER BEWARE

Another car salesman who needs a good kick up the backside. Shouldn't they be reducing it because you are trading in a good vehicle, not increasing the price of the new one. Mongrels.
2008 model 3lts turbo 5 speed manual towing 21ft full Jurgen ensuite van just under 2 tonne.
Sails up the hills. We sit around 90 - 95 and fuel economy is 9.5 solo and 16 towing.
Couldn't be happier.
We had a canopy put on ours as you can see in my avatar. Surprising what you can stow away in the back and the good thing is that any spare fuel for the truck or the genny is not in the cab with you.
They gang tackle you and bamboozle with figures and before long mistakes are made. unfortunately the salesman are very smooth talkers and also liars. have spoken to another ford dealer and he told me the franchisers can charge what they like and sometimes get away with it Bad salesman and dealers will get theirs by word of mouth Ken
Great choice Ken, my next car. I'm still looking on the side of the road for him too but no luck so far. If I ever find him I'll give him the kiss of life (so to speak).

The ranger and BT50 are in a class of their own with the new models and only the outer cosmetic details are different, some small variances internally but both seem excellent. BT 50 is quite a lot cheaper and should be considered Doug if you do find him /her revive them please
I class car salesmen on par with politicians, real estate sales , and the big banks. All they want is your money, and will lie , coerse, and look you straight in the face while doing it. I have decided to go the other way , and put an older camper on my old Hilux diesel.A lot of stuffing about, but its saving me a bundle.If I had more money I might go for a BT50, also. I've seen a few set ups like this , dont know how they do it..
Last time I traded a vehicle I "wheeled and dealed" on the basis of a changeover price. I also asked for the extras (bull bar, towbar, cargo barrier etc) to be included in the changeover price as they can really do a job on you if you don't. They have a lot of "slack" in the price they charge for options.

Wish I could find a dual cab 3l TD Ute to legally pull my Evernew, the big cruiser does a great job, but eventually age does weary them all & a newie in auto form would be great...........oohhhh should mention that van is a 22 fter with tare at 2500kgs and ATM 3410kgs, so might be a problem me thinks.

Whiteman, don't write off the BT-50 for your van! We have a 2008 BT-50 Freestyle 4x4 manual (5500 kg GCM) hauling our Southern Cross 5th wheeler (3450 kg ATM) - 66,000 km so far and hasn't missed a beat, we love it. With the van hitched we get about 17L per 100 km. And the newer BT-50 (and Ranger) is even better.

The escalating cost of fuel is going to be an issue for many though.
Maybe there could be somewhere on the site to log fuel use for different rigs and approximate weights. It wouldn't be scientific of course but it would be some guide. With logs on 4X4 sites people accept that fuel use can vary according to the driver, environment and load and the numbers are interesting as more data confirms fuel economy expectations.

Whiteman. With a 2500Kg TARE and an 3410Kg ATM (Very strange figure) you a personal allowable payload of 910Kg. Do you actually use all that payload? It's the loaded mass of the van (Not exceeding the ATM) that is the important mass (Weight).

That was fair economy if it was for the towing component.
John....figures are correct if the boys at Evernew have got them right when doing the VIN plate and no to the last question. Only ever filled all 3 tanks once to see the effect, generally run with 1 tank full or 2 at 50% when in tow otherwise use CP water or if bush camping will fill all 3 for a brief period.
