.. and it was so real as dreams are .. so I wanted to go back into it, escape reality, to just continue where I was before I woke up .. and I did !
That was around the age of 12 and although I don't often awake during dreams these days, I'm still able to re-enter that land of pleasant oblivian ..
you must agree though .. when its not a pleasant dream, I haven't found the same urgency to return, and its time to make the cutoff ..
Dreams have different meanings to different people .. for me, the dreams that I remember, good or bad, have proven to be something that I will not see eventuate into reality in my life-time .. I feel I've been given the opportunity to redirect my energies into alternative interests that will better enhance my life .. I have't yet dreamt of winning the Lotto .. so you never know !
Some people remember dreams .. and some people dont. They recall dreaming about something but cant remember what it was about. They do however, recall whether it was pleasant or otherwise ..
I'd like to hear your experiences, not forgetting that we try to keep it a light-hearted discussion and not to venture into the sinister aspects of the imagination ..
Over the years I have found that if I have a really bad dream and can remember it when I wake up it is like a warning and something bad will happen within a day or so. It is usually not what I dreamed but things have included unexpected deaths, car accidents etc. It is really scary and I live in dread from the time I wake up until something happens because it has never failed to do so.
I have also found lately that I will be dreaming and if I wake up and then go back to sleep the dream will continue from where it left off when I woke up. It has even carried over to the next night.

Glad to see you are getting a couple of serious answers here Jon.
Clare I think dreams that continue after interuption are really interesting and important. I have had dreams several years apart in which themes or events have continued, like a next episode or an update. I had forgotten all about the previous dream but then remembered it clearly after the updated dream.
I am an admirer of Jung and like much of his theories about dreams, especially stuff around the collective consciousness and primordal memory.
Lots of cultures have therapy and healing treatments based on dreams.
Personally I know when a dream is deeply significant and the feeling stays with me even if I forget the detail of the dream.
One dream I had when I was eight shaped the general direction of my philosophical, spiritual and psychological development for at least the next few years -it was really powerful andI still remember it really clearly.
We have no idea how our psyche or unconscious works. Personally i think it is the closest to the source of life we will ever get and dreams are somehow linked in.
This is getting far too cosmic and out there and now allyou lot will think i am a weirdo.
No - not a weirdo at all - just a lucky person to have come to an understanding of the "other" side of life - lucky you! My daughter has a lot of dreams, but if she dreams of her late dad, especially if comes with another passed over person, usually in that week something momentous will happen, either to her or someone close to her. I have done some dream interpretations for people, and most times my readings of the dream will make absolute sense to the dreamer, either at the time or in the near future. I, personally, do not remember dreams - to the point I would say that I don't dream. Now, you will all think I am a weirdo!!

I was raised in a rather strict religious atmosphere as that was my parents "calling" .. Without going into the specifics, I'm now neither Pro nor Anti-Pro religion but more than happy in my own skin and with my own spiritual application.
As you were saying Elle about a continuation of themes and events experienced several years apart, I've been able to re-enter previous dreams ..
Gotta be careful here now .. its been said that if one has repettitive dreams that they they might be subject to fears and pressure that bear on the subconscious .. well .. ok then .. whatever !!
I find myself in a familiar dream .. its a pleasant one. I know what will come soon or next in the dream as I've been there before, so rather than just follow the former line, I would move off in a different direction to see where it would take me .. that works just fine but then all previous familiarity within that dream is gone and I'm enjoying new territory .. this will continue til I choose to "wake up" ..
The interesting point here is that I'm able to recall these dreams and their variations .. its most interesting ..
Yes Jon I reckon that the unconscious and the subconscious are 2 very different mechanisms of dealing with issues beyond our consious reality which is really very primative because it soaks up and regurgitates all the social conditioning and and predjudices we are subjected to, relly frm before brth.

Well if you guys are weirdo's then may I join you? I used to have dreams that later (sometimes many years later) came true in some aspect. But now almost all of my dreams are the same-- I'm trying to solve a problem. If its a good dream I fix whatever it is, in bad dreams I get overloaded with heaps more problems. I'd rather not remember those. Would love to hear your comments Jules.
Like all of us I dream too. If I can remember the dream it usually happens.
Other times I know I have dreamt but can't remember what it was about.
My favourite dream is I win Lotto............chances would be good if I bought a ticket.....
Oh I hope not Ma - over the years I have had a dream a number of times whereby I walk home from Caulfield and it doesn't take long and I enjoy the walk ... Ma that is about 20km and I definitely would not enjoy it and it would take many hours!!!!

really good comments. Gotta wonder why some of us have to take the mickey out of others for our inner experiences. Thanks for sharing. I shared too even though I thought it would sound a bit odd to some.
I reckon when we are on the road it is a spiritual journey as well as propelling a caravan or a coaster or a whatever down the bitumen and gravel.
People hit the road for lots of reasons.
I really look forward to meeting some of you out there.
I hope you all are having a very fulfilling and happy night where ever you are.
We are lucky to be able to be ourselves .. and we're all quite different !
A few already know about this ..
About 11 years ago I was just sitting and chatting with my dear Mum in her lounge in Adelaide. The topic somehow got around to a family discussion ..
Now, for general info, I'm the middle of 3 male siblings in our family who were all born and raised in PNG ..
I said to Mum that I can still remember the room that my younger brother was born in, and the details are still crystal clear to this day .. she was quite surprised as I related so many facts that she here herself knew .. where the (2) doors were in relation to the bed .. the number of pictures and where they were hanging on the wall .. the wooden chair and table that were at the side of the bed and the oval shaped mirror that was on the wall above the table .. there was a crucifix on the table and some glasses with cloth covers there also ..
She then asked .. "did you know what time of the day it was ? " and I said it was night time as I could not remember seeing any sunshine coming in through the windows .. (there were no windows apparently .. it was an internal room) ..
She then laughed and wished to know if I was pulling her leg .. and where did I get all the information from ?
That was the room I was born in !
No pictures were ever taken in the room .. I was born at 0115 in the morning .. my father first saw me through the window of a small plane after we flew back to the plantation where we lived, so he was unable to pass on any details to me ..
The reason the topic had never been approached before was because I had automatically assumed it was my younger brothers birth room ..
.. and another situation at the ripe age of 19 years .. I was in the Manly (NSW) hospital to get my appendix removed. During the process I found myself looking down at the operating table where (4) people were busy doing their thing .. I still remember how surprised I was when I recognised myself down there .. there wasn't fear or concern whatever, but for the fact that I'd better get back there before they catch me here and I'd have to explain it .. and I couldn't .. that's how real it was !
I musta gotten back ok .. but I later found out that I had actually woken up, bright-eyed and bushy tailed in the middle of the op .. they estimate I would only have only been in that situation for no longer than 16 seconds before my eyes were closed again .. they had to manually close my eye-lids as they didn't shut automatically.
I was not aware of these 'physical' activities at all myself .. but were passed on to me by my doctor at a follow-up appointment.
well folks .. I thank you for your interest and I will now let this topic rest. Its not really appropriate to use this forum for this sensitive subject ..
