First or second week in June is fine with me. How long is it going to be for?

Yep, I'd say as long as anyone wants to stay.

We..Marj and I...reckon just make it the first week of June. People can come and go anytime they like, as they did at Greens Lake.

Qld school hols don't start until 22/6. Plenty of time for fun and games before the little darlings are loose. biggrin

Don't know how you'd feel about the Gin Gin Showgrounds.   This is the only hands-on info. I can find so far.

Cheers,
Sheba.

 Try this link.

Might not be suitable for some I think.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Someone is going to have to take a stand here I feel.  Sorry if I've offended anyone.

I organised a get together a couple of years ago and we didn't have all this trouble.   If you want to know anything about the one I organised PM me.

Don't want to tread on any toes here and sorry if I have, I only mean to help.

Lets just back to Greens Lake - too many options - frustrating - shouldn't be this hard. Pick a place - go if you want, don't go if you don't want - course that is the trouble with places where you have to book.
And, yes, I know I didn't end up at Greens, but I will be at the next one - come hell or high water!!!!!!

Yep Thats the problem. Too many choices. June seems a long way off too which is not helping.

What's your problem?

People are having a good time checking out the web and camps6, planning reconnaissance trips and generally chatting along.

I'm retired, and I don't do snap decisions and high pressure anymore, and I'm enjoying a more laissez faire process.

There is no urgency. We've got 6 months to go till June.

We already know generally which area of Queensland it will be in, and that it will be basic camping.

Thanks Rosie. Always my problem, I'm afraid..trying to please everyone. As long as we have some dates set, for the workers, a venue doesn't have to be decided just yet.

No worries Ma, no offence taken here. I'll PM you.

I'm hoping to get to Bradley Wolf in the new year for a few days.  Will check it out and take some pics (assuming I remember the camera).

Gin Gin lovely town, but I wouldn't even have to hook up the camper, could just walk there.

Showground certainly close to all facilities but I would prefer to go somewhere not quite that close to town.

I've never been to Gin Gin, as far as I recall, but for this meet, I think all are agreed that water would be nice...dam/lake/river.

I was just thinking of you before BarbandDaz. That's a shame for us, but it sounds like a great trip!

Would be nice Beth, but the only places I have found so far in this area with one of those three,  are either too expensive, or you need 4x4 to get there.   Not every-one has the latter.

Also a lot of them do not allow dogs, and some allow only 48 hour or less stopovers.

For what it's worth, if you's are looking at southern QLD due to distance etc why not change the time frame to avoid the cold weather.

By June I wish to be in far nth Qld. duue to having the last two winters in the south.

Just a suggestion.

After talking to a few people who've done this sort of thing before, I've realized it's impossible to please everyone, which is what I've been trying to do. So I'm not going to be posting again until Pam and I have done our recce, and Jack Mac has checked up his way.

I'll start a new thread when we've decided. You can join us...or you can't...simple as that! We'll be there in the first week of June.

Good on ya beth. You've learnt very early what I learnt.
Stay cool and do it your way then closer to the time you will come up with the right place.

Was talking to my son just before, he said there is no fish in Paradise dam except Catfish at the moment. But they are restocking it and should be ok by next winter.
