Having just purchased a new tv for the van have been impressed with picture quality....but oh my the sound is hollow & tinney, question is how do I enhance the sound quality without replacing the whole set ?....are computer speakers any good ??
Is it run on 240 with a transformer to give you 12 volts DC,or is it a full 240 volt job.
Some of the places like Office Works keep a good selection of speakers for both 12 volt and 240 and most times you can hear the sound quality and decide which suits you.
I have a Teac LED which runs on 240 through a transformer to 12 volts and use Logitech computer speakers.
I have bought a 12 volt 5 amp voltage regulator to run the TV when not connected to 240 volts.
I am told it is a safer way to run the TV from a cigarette socket.$29.95 from Jaycar, to stop the chance of burning out the TV if used direct from the 12 volt supply.
Hope this helps.
PS.
If your TV supports it you can even go the full theatre sound route with add on speakers.
Yuglamron....unit is a 55cm Palsonic LED - LCD HDTV/DVD Combo & runs on 240v via a step down (my words) cord to 12v supplied with set. It runs off the 12v van system or 240 as mentioned above.....hope this helps.
We have one of those and plugged our sons logitech speakers in and it was great sound.Speakers are 2 little ones and some box thing. cheap to buy but not sure actual price.
I know a bloke got a big 5.1 surround sound and put the sub woofer under the bed. He reckons he has great sound but he near went through the roof first time he watched a show with an explosion The more succesful speakers need 240 volts, if anyone can tell me a 12 volt I will be happy.
