RE: Bad News- Greens Lake participants

Ted and Robyn, so sorry to hear about Benny, they become such a great part of our lives and we often take them for-granted..
I know i did when my ben the border collie passed away last year, my heart still aches for him..
I only wish you the best in this hard time..

Robyn and Ted - condolenses on your loss of the gorgeous Benny - I am sure he will be badly missed.  Such a lovely old boy. He will live with the angels in doggy heaven.

A little poem I hope helps at this time.

WAITING

I got to the gates of heaven yesterday,

After we said goodbye.

I began to miss you terribly,

Because I heard you cry.

Suddenly there was an angel and she asked me

To enter heaven's gate.

I asked if I could stay outside

For someone who'd be late.

I wouldn't make much noise you see,

I wouldn't bark or howl,

I'd only wait here patiently

And play with my tennis ball.

The angel said I could wait right here

And wait for you to come-

Because heaven just wouldn't be heaven

If I went in alone.

So I'll wait here, you take your time,

But keep me in your heart,

Because heaven just wouldn't be heaven

Without you to warm my heart.

JRH - Lovely poem - more tears.

Our daughter had a psychic reading earlier this year. She was told that our Golden Retriever, (Shae) how had joined our family at the same time as Benny, was waiting for him.

She also said that she saw my father looking after all the family dogs who have joined him. When I think about all the dogs the extended family have had over the years he must be very, very busy. We know that Shae and Poppa are waiting for him.   He will now be back to being Benny Bullet and chasing those sea gulls again. smile

Thanks everybody for all your support.  It means a lot.   smile

It's a sad time, but hold on to the happy memories.
It seems your loved pet touched many other hearts. That's very special. You all have happy memories of this loved ped.

And to all those people who say animals don't have a soul I say Bull.

Our family pets are more than just pets they are part of the family and these psychic's are more accurate than a lot of people give them credit for.

I was a bit hesitant in posting the poem as I did not wish to add to your grief, I am so glad you enjoyed it.

Benny sure touched my heart CG. To watch him wandering around at Greens Lake, wobbling a bit in his old age, wandering into the lake for a dip, standing there for so long you would think he had forgotten what he went there for.
Would loved to have picked him up for some big cuddles but could see he was so frail had to be content with lots of pats.
To watch him following the voices when he had been left behind, knowing he couldn't see too well but was familiar with the sound of mum and dads voice and would finally get there with lots of encouragement.
To see my Mindy's double was uncanny and I have told her to look after him up there, make him welcome and she will say, "So you met my mum?"

Totally agree with you there - humans could learn so much from dogs in how to love unconditionally and value someone for how they are.

In most cases I prefer animals to humans.  An animal would not even contemplate hurting or killing something just for the pleasure of doing it,and they love and trust us implicitly.

God I miss our dog so much, he had to be euthanised 3 years ago due to kidney failure.   I still put my hand out to stroke him.  He used to lie on the chair next to mine.  He was a Miniture Pinscher that grew to the size of a Jack Russel but he was a wonderful companion.
