Very windy up here too Ken and 36 degrees with very high humidity, quite unbearable actually. Wish it would rain to cool the air.

30deg in Canberra this afternoon. Then in the space of 1/2hr thunderstorm, hail (big). and its still grumbling. 9.20pm

11.58pm.......Wow!! That was the worst and longest thunder and lightening storm I have ever been in. Luckily no wind.

Molly handled it very well. Didn't appear too distressed.

No damage here will have to wait till tomorrow to find out how it was for the rest of Canberra region. All quiet. No emergency sirens.

I stayed at the park by the oval. Basic for a couple of nights, but the park workers were very helpful, and the fellow-campers were were also very friendly.
It's a great place to rest after negotiating the Great Ocean Road.

Drove down to Lorne today. Picnic lunch at Anglesea, Ice Cream at Lorne and then home for a nice Latte with our new coffee machine. Lots of schoolies in Lorne, but no problems except a few sunburnt backs and legs. They won't need to fire up the barbie for their sausages tonight.

Thought we'd better go out after Ted flooded the laundry and I left the gas on under an empty pan. confuse confuse

Nice place Ken, but if the wind is off shore it can be hard to get a bite from the fish. No idea why that is, but along that coast it was always the same.

Try fishing the rocky points or find the deepest gutter you can and freeline the bait.

Hi Ken, many years ago we stayed at Apollo Bay for a week. We camped at the caravan park on the hill, and saw our first whale up close. My 13yr old son saw it come under us and breach about 20M from us. He/She was about 25 too 30 M long and pale grey (closest I could find on the dubya dubya dubya was a Sei Whale), with a littlun in tow. Was a magic, and scary moment. We had a couple of other great moments too, like feeding the seals and surfing the boat down the fronts of waves..
