Well have been at Kiffens Reserve near Yarrawonga Vic Lovely spot but if you like a quite weekend at the Cod opening well forget it.
Some camper at these Cod opening spoil it for others like shouting when drunk and leave there mess every were and us Nomad Campers get the blame. One person from one camp when going to leave was going to empty there port a potty in the reeds beside our camp and then wash it out in the lake and they were not what we would class as regular campers and were locals from Sheparton Vic. We just gave them the stare from Hell and they put it back in the car. Mind you you pass 2 Dump points only 4-6 Kms from this camp.
One camp site lit a large fire one night then at 2 am in the morning it got lose and near missing a near new camper trailer, Just image been woken at 2 am with a grass fire racing through your camp pritty scary I would think trying to pull up a camper trailer within minutes.
All have gone now and it is back to normality it only takes one or two to wreck someones weekend no consideration for other.
Cod opening brings out "the bogans" who use it as a excuse for a booze up and stuff it up for the real fisherman and campers.
A few drinks is fine but fire safety this time of year should be second nature.
When there's dump points just down the road emptying the porta potti in the reeds is just plain dumb & lazy. What were they thinking. There are camping grounds where they would run the risk of receiving a good thumping.
Now that the weekend is over you will be able to sit back and enjoy the beauty of the lake in peace.
Went and investigated Kiffens when was there recently. Didn't look too good but I only went into the first bit.(full of rubbish) Was wondering if you go further in, if it was any better. At time it looked overgrown and I was worried about turning around.
The road at Kiffens Reserve Mulwala has two ends you can drive all the way through it is a great spot no rubbish we have seen there is a couple of bins in camp area no toilets or water though. can camp right near the lake. There is so many nice spots we are here till start of January sometime if not to busy so if you are passing drop in. Regards.
I must have gone in the wrong end will have another look the next time.
Get in and get you place early for New Years Day. Yes they are boat races. I used to stay at my mother's and the noise from the boats is pretty loud. But its only one day. Although, there are ski boats most of the time. The other option is along the river somewhere. Some very nice places there. But once again crowded.
