Sydney New Years Eve

Does anyone know where a 21ft Motorhome can pull up to watch Fireworks on Sydney Harbour New Years Eve.

Cheers

Given that Sydney seems to have the biggest fire works display in Aus you might need to leave your vehicle in a CP (for safety) out of town and find your way in by public transport, I know that will be busy too but it might be the only way around it gd.

Absolutely NOWHERE goldie.  Sorry mate but you would be flat out finding a place to park yourselves let alone your motorhome.

Public Transport from out of town is the only means .. All other city/foreshore access is blocked except for emergency services, so its on foot ..

enjoy !

It would probably be close to impossible to find a spot like that. I can't think of any spots that would accomodate a motorhome on the foreshores & if you were to take up more than one spot I think you you would have some very irate people wanting a parking spot by evening. You would also have to get there early morning to get said spot.

This site has a map showing the spots if you wanted to try:

Also another suggestion if you don't mind paying the money for it is to view the fireworks from Taronga Zoo. I put a link to it below.

Good luck

Jon

Soun ds scary to me,    perhaps if you knew someone with a property , then catch public transport into city.  Try advertising on gumtree,  e.g wanted space to park  ......       for 2 days so we can see the fireworks,   sometimes the churches allow park ups.    good luck.

And dont forget it will then take you hours to get home by the time you fight the crowds all wanting to leave and get on trains or buses at the same time.I would not even think of trying to get a cab. Sorry to be negative but I live in the Hills district of Sydney and the hassle it would be makes me sit at home and watch it on the TV in comfort disbelief

Years ago we used to watch the Sydney fireworks from North Head. And it was a good spot to watch the Sydney to Hobart fleet going out through the heads too.

I dont know if you'd be able to get your M/H up there though.

biggrinI would leave your vehicle somewhere and use the train there is no way you will be able to park in Sydney. We travel down by car then take a train to the Quay and its a short walk to the opera house if that where you want the best place to see the fireworks, also you got to get there early Gates close around the Opera house and its an alcohol clear zone, your bags are searched but the thing is you can buy in once inside I love going its not the same watching it on the telly. Yes its a hassle getting home on the trains but there is plenty running and its only once a year Go go over the North shore but that will be just as crowed...some folks take there tents down and camp up to two days before to get the best spot Good Luckblankstareblankstare

I lived in the Manly area for nearly 20 years so North Head was handy but I always found it a bit far away from the fireworks though it is a very popular spot now days. It is another spot you would have to get to early.

The cliffs next to the park at Bareena Drive in Balgowlah Heights has nice views of Sydney City in the distance plus you can see North Head & South Head & Manly all from the one place. It is little known by tourists but if you check it out on Google maps you will see the prime location it is in. Also you may be able to park a large vehicle there if you get there early enough.

Cheers

Jon

Thanks for all the replies, I understand totally about the crowds and transport but there are no cp's close. I don't like to be too far away from the m/home unattended even though it is alarmed.
Thanks again, will have to re think or find somewhere safe to park it up out in the suburbs.

Probably the closest CP you will get on the north side is in Lane Cove.

On the west probably Vineyard

On the south, not sure maybe Stanwell Park or Helensburgh

You will need public transport for all of them.  The one on the north side you would catch a bus and the others there is the train

you could try a caravan park close to syndey itself, then take a small swag or tent and try camping at one of the many spots you go too, in the past i've seen on tv where people have camped out over night the night before , as the others have said, theres no way you'd get your motor home in the city..

good luck..
