is it just me or this world getting more violent, every nite on tv it seems to be a stabbing and or killing something like that.. and after seing it at my home town, sometimes i wonder if its worth going out the front door.
Can't stop living just because of a few crazies - happens everywhere - even in my sleepy little town here, we have had rapes, attempted rapes, armed robberies - doesn't stop me going where and when I please, just keep your radar honed, and move away from any trouble.
Live your life as happily as you can, don't let them get you down.

Milo when you look at history you can consider we are very lucky to live in our present era. Not too long ago all sorts of atrocities were a normal part of life. I am actually very happy to be living here now as I don't think I would have handled things well even if I had been born say 30 years before my birthdate. I sure would not have coped 100 years earlier. But there are always good things that go with that era too.
There were lots of horrible practices which were part of normal day living not too many years ago - public executions, people being burned at the stake, uninimaginable torture devices, little kids being sent up chimneys, little kids being sent down mines. The good thing these days is that those things don't happen any more.
Having said that I think people move around to avoid the violence so that is probably the best thing to do unless you want to make a stand. People who make a stand to strengthen their communities and give their kids a good start have my full admiration and support.
i dunno,, i just feel so flat lately , i dont feel like going any where really,
just feel like staying home..
just happy doing my radio show and going for the occasional walk down
the beach .. traveling just seems too difficult at the moment for me..
powering this, powering that, rather just stay in a cabin and not worry about trailers and tents etc.. just getting me down..

Milo my mate. No its not you, a lot of us caring dudes out there, are sensitive to the violence, abuse, and crap that spins around. Its feelings mate, I find with myself I have to put the reactor brain into a safe zone these days to cope with what I see, hear etc. That is I can empathise with the crap I see and hear about, but realise I am not superhuman, so cant change it etc. I can pray, I can look after my own little world, family and mates, animals etc. So my little circle feels warm fuzzies, in turn, those people /animals can do the same.
Its like this forum we can look out for each other, give advice, and what we do with it is up to us.
If your melancholy goes on to long, you need expert help. Believe me I have had to run to the doctor at different stages to slap the #black dog# , so to speak, (black dog means depression that goes on too long). Are you getting enough restful sleep? Being overtired and not eating well is a major contributor to how we feel. Surrounding yourself with good things helps, nice genuine people, that is why I left the volunteering place, they ended up being morons, feel so much better that I dont go there. Phew.
Elle you have a very interesting point. When one ponders history and especially our ancestors, they must have been a strong lot, because we are here. My lot came from all ends of the earth. So hybrid mix upon hybird mix generates the present generation. Like you I have thought about what era I would have liked to live in. Unless I was a wealthy princess who sat on my tuff eating strawberries (maybe boring) no other era appeals to the one I am in.
Yes I think every era is tough and has its own set of problems and people adapt as they grow. Milo forget about the complexity - just start out with something simple and add to it if and when you need to. The important thing is to get out there. Reckon you'll find though that 8 weeks rent for a cabin will equal a good 2nd hand little camper trailer with 240v built in so you don't have to worry about power etc. Keep yourself safe and happy mate.
Milo, it all depends on what news you watch on TV. Some stations really only show the awful, violent stories and dont bother with anything that might be called good news. Its enough to make anybody depressed!
Try changing channels, you might be surprised how other stories are shown, without the emphasis on street violence. Its funny, some would say they dont watch the ABC news because its a bit boring, but thats exactly why they show all that crap on the other news shows.
Same applies to newspapers and radio. We are all at the mercy of the journalists agenda, they twist things for the most shock value regardless of the true story.
Most human beings are good people, not too sure about journalists though.
