Quite a few of us are familiar with the effort put forward by these folk to get their new establishment going, but have have had to battle the powers that be to to try to get some satisfaction ..
I wonder what the full story is ........ ?

How bloody stupid is this, we had a coffee there the other day on way home from sydney.@ sighned their petition.
T could notsee any problem with their driveways , a good straight road with no vision obstructions at all.
These people need to have a look at some of the road side stalls along the east coast, right on the shoulder of the No 1 highway with no additional lanes.
I had a chat with the staff, said the do a big trade of a weekend. Their gut feeling is that some one is trying to force them out so they can take over.
Would not put it passed some b@#$$%$$s.

Hi all.just bringing you the latest news from the GREY GUM. Council issued the closure order on November 25th..Friday. To be honest, I was too upset to bring you the bad news. They said that our presentation, with our/your petition, our letters of support from the police, the ambulance, the defence force, the fire brigade, our letters from Alan Jones, George Souris etc were unconvincing and in the name of SAFETY we needed to cease operations. On Sunday the 27th, we were visited by an angel in disguise of a motorbike rider. His name was Brian Woods and he is the Chair of the Road Safety Committee for the Motorcycle Council of NSW. He said he would make representation to the Minister for Roads and the RMA on Monday. By Monday we had an email from the Manager Road and Traffic Safety for the RMA, by Tuesday we had an appointment for them to inspect. They arrived Thursday morning with a real lets work this out attitude. They said they did not want us to cease to trade, they did not want us to remove our signage from the road as we had been insructed to do by Council. They acknowledged that we have made a very sound contribution to safety on the Putty Rd. They advised that they would petition Council to revoke the cease trading order and that they would not support Council in any court action. They sent a road crew out on Saturday morning (Dec 3) and installed additional signage and they have closed off the southern most driveway entry. There are some works to be done on the remaining entry way but nothing in the vicinity of what Council was demanding and the RMA are going to work with us to get this done at minimum cost to us. Last night Council sent an email revoking the CEASE TRADING Order. There are SOOOO many people to thank, I dont know where to start.but to each and every one of you who signed our petition, who have rung us with your support, who have posted us on forums and facebook, who have written letters to the authorities..WE THANK YOU. At last we can get back to the business running a cafe and improving our service to you. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Kim and John
this is from that Blog ..

Thank you so much Jon for keeping us informed on this matter.
You might want to change the heading in the subject line now of your original post so that anyone who does not read the whole thread does not get the wrong message.
Hooray, the little bloke has a win!!!! I would bet there's a councillor with a conflict of interest in that decision. Hooray, the little bloke has a win!!!!

For those not familiar with the location .. its approximately halfway between Singleton and Windsor in NSW. That stretch of road has long been known for a large number of accidents, and probably the highest number of Motorcycle deaths & accidents on the East Coast .. if not in all of Australia (over a 150 k distance) ..
The road is a pleasant drive but does have a few 'curly' corners at the northern end but can be suitably travelled if respect is given to all conditions which also includes the variable weather.
Bike riders find the road enchanting with its variety of straights and bends and it can easily lull one into a false sense of security where the less experienced suffer their demise ..
Many of us frequently traverse the road and happy to do so .. This roadstop Cafe now provides an appropriate rest stop midway across the trip. Many years ago, there was a Truck Stop just a few K's further down the road which served that same purpose but that did burn down some 20 years ago ..
Kim & John truly have provided an essential service for all travellers ..
