Well my old faithful discovery 1 will be going to the big disco yard in the sky when we get back to perth in the new year, the old girl has just 2 short tows to do. Put the van in storage and then back to the park. The disco can also rest easy while we are away. We have travelled many solo miles together covering 5 of aust 7 major deserts along with other very remote places and has never let me down with not even a flat tyre. It is still in perfect mechanical condition but it has developed some rust in a couple of very nasty places, so after nearly 300 000km it will be replaced by a discovery 2 powered by a td5 with diesel gas and can only hope the next one proves as reliabable as the disco 1
You are right firefly, when sitting out in a desert somewhere laying back listening and watching the world go by and the closest place is maybe 500km away its great to know that the vehicle is going to start in the morning and do what ever you ask of it the next day, its done that for 5 years for me, sometimes as a workhorse and sometimes touring but its done it every day without falter. What more can you ask from a vehicle. Little bit atached i guess
