Spent some time today on the RTA NSW web site, and discovered an interesting project.
In conjunction with the National Trust, Engineers Australia, various local government Councils and historical groups, Roads and Maritime Services produced self-guided tour brochures for a range of heritage significant items in NSW.
The brochures contain a map, directions and historical notes. To date, brochures have been prepared on the following topics:
Cobb & Co Country - Moama to Wilcannia Heritage Drive.
Crossing the Blue Mountains - The Great Western Road.
Historic Bridges of The Hunter Valley.
Parramatta River Bridges - by RiverCat.
Parramatta... A Heritage of Roads and Transport.
Southern Highlands Heritage Drives.
The Convict Trail - The Great North Road.
The Great South Road.
Bridging the Murray River - Albury to Swan Hill regions.
Bridging the Hawkesbury River - Hornsby to Gosford.
The Summerland Way Richmond and Clarence Valleys (NSW) to Moreton Bay (Queensland).
I found the Murray River bridges very interesting, and though that some Victorian folk among us might find this useful.
