I have finally received a reply from the RACV and it looks like they are at least looking at it.

Mr Thomas,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you on the subject of RACV's coverage of vehicles longer than that which is covered by our current Terms and Conditions.
We have made good progress in some areas - and have agreement in principle in relation to tows and recovery from interstate. The matter of Victorian coverage is slightly more problematic as some of our existing service providers have the equipment to service larger vehicles, while others are not yet able to provide this service. While the solution is straightforward on the surface (ie find alternate suppliers) some of our service arrangements are in towns which only have a single service provider and there is no alternative.
We are still working towards a solution that we can offer to ALL members across Australia. However, a number of contracts need to be re-negotiated to make this happen and it is likely to take some more months to work through. As you can appreciate, we have to be confident that we can provide universal, consistent service prior to making this commitment in our Terms & Conditions.
I will keep you posted on progress.
Yours sincerely,
GORDON OAKLEY General Manager, Motoring & Mobility
