Eeeek, A Travel Nightmare

Found this in the NT news, a bit of an idea what could happen out there.

Two very lucky travellers indeed.

It looks like they tried to cross a flooded river, and failed. Never cross if the water is rising as it gets faster as it rises.I hope they are all right. Bill

 Gday...

It is always easy to provide advice after the event (and without knowing all the facts)... but.......this article and the coverage on ABC TV news last night makes one wonder why they did not follow the FIRST rule of crossing a 'body of water' in a vehicle.

If you do not know the area - or it is raised flow across a ford/bridge/road - ALWAYS walk it first. Then decide if it is passable.

I have been 4X4 driving for about 40 years and I still walk crossings before driving through.

Cheers

John

My goodness how lucky were they, I think we would have stayed until light so we could see the water
