Tamworth Country Music Festival .. travellers' thread ..

Well .. I might be early but I am here ! ..

After camping out at Chaffey Dam last night, I received a phone call this morning telling me someone had cancelled .. YESSS !! .. (I said quietly to myself) .. hehe

I'm at the Tamworth North Holiday Park and I'll be here for the next 5 weeks. I have been in touch with Lilly who I had met on a previous trip through Tamworth and I certainly hope to catch up with any other GN's that are making tracks this way ..

As you can imagine, prices are up as the event dictates .. but I'm here to enjoy a one-off visit so I'm happy to spend a little extra to see whats around here and not just the 10 days of the Festival.

Safe travelling

Jon

Well done Jonathon, about time your luck turned! When you get the chance try to fit in a drive up the hill to the lookout looking over the town, nice ample parking on top, good views of Tamworth and surrounds, also for photo's etc.

well .. maybe .. throw a sleeping bag on the bike .. some cold chicken and salad .. a bottle of Butterscotch Schnapps .. and a camera ..

but .. if someone tripped over me in the dark, I could get shot as they are still looking for that "wanted" man around this area ..

Yes .. I know .. make sure I get the photos first !

As far as i know the lookout is still close they are revamping  it  .. I think it suppose to be open again before  the festival .. And be careful Jon they shut the gate at 10 pm or 11 not sure not open till 6 am next morning.....  Is one of thoses places  whe a few spoil it for everyone ...They lock it up now over night because of the damage that get done up there by people who have no respect .....

dont forget to become a member of the leagues club, forget their names, there is three in Tamworth, but one membership gets you into two of them, hunt around. it was only $6. may be a bit dearer but you get all the benefits, cheap food and grog, and a place to hang out if its hot. membership last for three months.

had to cancel due to operation so make sure you have a drink for me, by the way one of the best pubs is the longyard we always ended
up back there at the end of the night and it was only 1.5 klms from the van park ,was realy looking forward to it too, as we were in
a tent last time and i had to be out of it by 7.30 latest it got so damn hot and steamy.

enjoy your time the look out is fantastic .

As I have noted on another thread a few of us are leaving on the 14th. Jan. to Tamworth. We will be staying at the sports ground near town. Hope to bump into other GN.

Many thanks Lilly for your visit here .. It was good to catch up with you again and I know that once the Festival starts that you'll have limited freedom ..

If the opportunity presents itself Lilly, and a few GN's can manage a short get-together, I'll let you know ..

Just some additional info if your on your way here ..

This morning I was speaking with some folks down at Riverside .. another guy approached us and stated that he had just got mugged while walking back across the bridge from town ..

so .. security is of prime concern when you set up ..
