Very sad, the woman driver must feel terrible so not good for her either.  Some more details shown here;

http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/boy-5-dies-at-victorian-caravan-park-20111231-1pghh.html

I was in a caravan park south of Perth a few years ago and a family living there in a tent (homeless) allowed their young 3 or 5 year old to drive around the park roads unsupervised in an electric car, a disaster waiting to happen.

kids are every where in my culdesac, and im fortunate to be able to turn my car around in my back yard
and drive straight out, i also got a reverse camera for christmas which i have to get fitted but i agree too
all new cars and all cars should have mandatory reverse cameras ...
i dont know if id drive again if id hit any one..

This begs the question.........what was a 5 year old doing riding around the park on his bike at 6:30pm??

Wonder where his parents were.  I agree Vic, horrible for the woman driving the car.

 That's what I wonder too Boroma, dangerous places those caravan parks they are not a playground around the vehicles and caravans etc, some parents are irresponsible or expect others to look out for their kids when they should be doing that.

Fully agree with Boroma577 and Vic. Be the judge and jury now - which way would it go if compensation(TAC) is sought through court. Whose responsibility/liability?

Teach the kids safety around cars. While we as drivers have to have eyes in the back of our heads when driving around parks and neighbourhoods where kids are playing all the time, kids must be taught safety from the earliest age.
Last year 2011 too many kids were run over in their own driveways. It's so sad for everyone, and a lifetime nightmare for the driver, often one parent.
I remember being taught safety as a kid. Why can't parents be responsible these days? When this happens it's everyone else's fault and the blame game becomes very unpleasant, and even goes to court.
It's the parent's responsibility to teach their children safety and everything, including respect and manners.
