Maybe have at least 200 posts as that makes them a member more than a blowin.
Rather than number of posts, what about length of membership??
That would then prevent someone joing and running up a lot of nonsense posts in a short time in order to qualify.
Maybe a minimum of 6 months as an example.
Some people do not post often for a variety of valid reasons but they could be quite good photographers and IMO have the right to submit pics to the comp.
another good idea, length of membership, that could work, thanks Boroma
Have to agree with you there Boroma, maybe a 6 month membership. At least it would be known they haven't just joined for the photo comp, regardless of how many times they have posted.
Looks like there are heaps of great suggestions .... although very few votes - maybe the "number of photos" has 'stifled' voting
Cheers
John
I think the length of membership has taken over from the voting but that's not a problem, and that suggestion would stop some of the people just joining to enter the comp.
Agree with Baroma's suggestion that it be length of membership, instead of the number of posts.
I also think there should be a limit of how many photo's but I don't know how that would be policed.
I must admit, I got a little bored when there were soooo many photo's. And a little annoyed at the ones that didn't fit the topic. I stopped looking at them after awhile.
Maybe in the Photo Comp Section each member only has one thread each. They post the amount of photos allowed in that thread and no where else or it will be deleted. Anything above the allowed amount won't be taken into consideration no matter how good it is.
Personally, I think all members should be entitled to only (5) entries each, regardless of their time as members or how many posts they might have made ..
Lets get this back to a level playing field .. Each person need only to select and submit their own best (5) photos ..
The duration of (2) months for the competition might just be quite suitable as members will the take their time to submit and/or remove and resubmit entries as they choose .. As each person has only (5) entries to consider, time will be less a consideration than it has been in the past ..
I stopped looking at the last competition photos as the image took time to load one at a time, and some were fairly ordinary and repetitive. Unfortunately amongst those images I bet there were a lot of good ones but I lost interest...I did vote but waited till the judges had done their selection. I consider there should be 6 and no more than 10, enticing people to be more selective in their choices. I think you loose an audience if the quality is boring and repetitive, and that is not going to encourage sponsors. Cheers Sharon
jonathan. The suggestions are for how many photos each, not how many photos depending on how long they have been here. That is a different part of the equation. How long they have to be here before they can enter the comp so they can't become a member just to enter and get the prize. thats a another consideration. Some people register solely to enter the comp last time.
Exactly my thoughts Baroma. Additionally once a limit is placed on the number of photos that can be entered, (say 10 in total) rather than have anyone checking all entrants numbers of photos posted, why not pick a winner first. Then check the number entered by the winner before notifying who has won. If his/her entries do not comply with the rules just pick another winner until someone does comply.
As a new member, I kind of find the phrase (blowin's) quite offensive and a bit of a turn off. (my definition of blowings would be Blowflies sneaking in at mealtime as Unwanted guests)
Are you forgetting you where once a new member Too!
This is the first time I have ever seen this crop up on any forum I subscribe to.
Please tell me if you want new members or not, and by the way I am not interested in posting photo's just yet anyway.
Happy New Year to all

As was stated further down, the blow-ins are people who join up purely to enter the comps and never come back again.
You're obviously not a blow-in Burnie, and we certainly welcome anyone who joins for the genuine reasons of mutual interest in Nomadding, friendship, support and info regarding all sorts of things.

Hi Burnie,
Sorry if you were offended but it was not intended to be that way, you are more than welcome, please keep posting, it's a great site and plenty of nice people like me
The problem is some people are joining just to be able to enter the photo comp and take away very good prizes and then do not even come back in and thank the people (Cindy & Steve) who spend a lot of time organising the comp.
Now you know a bit more of what has gone on in the past we hope you will stay around and enjoy the company of all the GN's on this site.
