Optus C1 Activation

Hi, I have just re-activated my Optus card. I have all the ABC and SBS stations. Can anyone let me know the process to get WIN and GWN for WA. I am leaving metro area soon to go East. I know that you have to apply separately for Seven Central and Impaja when I cross the border, but can't seem to find any info for WA stations. Thanks, Alan

Very lonely out here. No repsonses. Thats OK, Ive got a good sense of humour.

I did some more research online and discovered - VAST. I guess I must of been off the road for too long and been left behind with my old system.

Anyway, when I re-activated my Optus card, I still had Impaja connected, which I thought a little unusual, because they sent me a letter about 6 months ago to renew, and I didnt. I will leave it on, forget about WIN and GWN in WA, and get Seven Central.

This trip will only be for about 2 months, so next big trip, I will update to the VAST receiver. Regards All - Alan

Sorry you didn't get any replies Alan.  I guess nobody knew anything about it.  Anyway you seem to have the problem sorted for the time being at least.

Happy travels and stay safe OK.

Thanks for that. All good. Must admit, I look at some of the posts and have no idea. But, happy to say, that over the years I have found heaps of information from forums like this one and have got a lot of great ideas on how people set up their vans. Talk again Soon. Alan

Dellalan, sorry I missed this post, when you get a VAST decoder make sure you register as a traveller, WA does not have all channels on VAST yet so I set mine up as being in Victoria.

I get 89 channels on VAST but some of them are radio's and some are double up's of tv cahnnels

WA maybe looking at 2013 for all stations

no need to do that because you MUST register as a traveller, so you just give your home address.

every 6 months you need to reregister, say you are travelling and register in Vic and then move to QLD you can reregister for QLD or any other state.

Also registering in Vic means we get tv stations on Vic time, 1800 news @ 1500, great if you want to watch the 2030 movie at 1730.

Thanks Wombat. I was driving along Grt Eastern Hwy Belmont today and saw Itechworld, so I thought I would drop in and check out the Vast Receiver. They had it for $279 which, from what I have read, this seems to be the going rate. I decided to get it and have connected it already. As I had the sat dish connected, it was a simple matter of taking away the Strong box and connecting the new one. Got channel 800 straight away.

I completed the online Traveller registration, and at the moment, registered for WA.. However when I cross the border in a few weeks time, I will change it to Vic.

When reading the viewer guide it suggested the HDMI cable to get HD TV. I have used the normal ones that came with the box, so I guess that is standard Definition. Do you think I would notice a lot of difference?

Alan

DA yes you will notice a difference, geat a good quality HDMI cable there is a lot of cheap ones out there.

It's not really SD you are still getting HD as long as you have a HD TV but the HDMI cable will show a better picture

How many channels does it show when you connect?

Just found this one on eBay and I can recommend the seller I have one of these cable's, maybe you could pick one up when you are in Victoria, see pic, ph 1800 692 225

Alan an HDMI lead will make no difference at all on your current TV. To get the advantage of HDMI you need a full genuine HD TV set or a large screen plasma TV. Your component leads will be fine.
