need some help please..

G'day my good friends, i need some help (there are those that would say i need a lot of helpbiggrin)

any way my dad , i think watches those stupid infomerchales on tv and

recently saw an add that has some sort of battery charger, jump starter thing

that jumpstarts your car via the cigaret lighter, and fits in the glove box..

has any one seen those, or know who sells them?

hes got me looking all over the net..

thanks

milo

Hi Milo
There is no way anything will jump start a vehicle from the cig socket, it will have heavy leads that connect directly to the battery and then recharge from the cig socket. There are many different and quality ones available. Check out the likes of supercheap, repco etc
cheers

lion are the distributors for them, they only have about a 6mth warranty, handy little gadget, cheaper than a normal jump starter.

I use one of these as a back up to my aux battery for my Bushman.  "They" claim 30ah capacity and my tests indicate that this is realistic.

Recently some stupid b@*t@rd wink left the ignition key in the aux position with the van hooked up and the van (3way) fridge flattened the battery. The jumpstarter did the trick in getting the (diesel) Paj going.

I've used my Ctek charger to give it a quicker recharge than the plugpak that comes with it.

i went and talked with our local auto sparky, we've been with him over 10 years
and he said to stay a way from the ones that supposedly charge from cigaret lighters
he says your better off with the proper jump starter packs , if you try to jump start
from the cigaret ligter you could blow the electronics in your car, so he said..
so thanks all..

Jim.....my battery died.....one morning ....used my purple one thats 38AH...started the paj...and still had enough power left in the jumpstarter to run my 40lt waeco 7 hours................(the RAA said the pajero's battery was origional one..made it 7 years old).....
and said I wont get that long from new ones.........also had to get to dealer to reprogram the Paj computer......lot things didnt work....like the MATT and Traction Control...after replacing the Pajero's battery

The RAA used some special thingy...to keep things functioning while they changed the battery.....wasnt till later ...while going down the street I noticed several lights/icons on the dash were blinking......Traction Control was one....

your (going by your av) looks same model.NP...mine is an Exceed DiD.....turbo diesel.but doesnt have the dash board center screen

Thinking of getting a snorkel for mine......I've put on roof racks..side steps...smart bar......Ooooops forgot ARB awning and basket

My jump starter is the purple one, same as yours David, I had to use it again yesterday morning, after that same stupid b@*t@rd left a door open all previous day. I wish I'd been born with two brains, that way I might at least have one that works!

My (diesel) Paj is (appropriately in my case) the "poverty" model so it doesn't have the smarts that yours does. Hence I've not had the problem you describe. Maybe the trick is to use the jump starter as a back up power supply to keep the electrics alive while changing the battery. (?)

Jim

(PS: I meant 38ah not 30ah as stated in my previous post)

Yes David it's a 2003 NP diesel manual, bottom of the range model so it doesn't have any of the fancy stuff such as the centre screen. It has a bullbar, and cargo barrier fitted at the time of purchase and I've added dual battery system, snorkel, long range auxiliary fuel tank, heavy duty OME suspension and airbag helpers. I've also made up a shelf for the Bushman fridge and some cargo that gives me storage space under it as well giving access to the well where the dickie seats normally go.

Thanks Jim.........yes I forgot mine came with cargo barrier..and HR towbar

I removed the rear seats too......they say theres 70lt storage in there under the floor

I made up a shelf storage area designed so I can still lift the floor cover out to get at the gear

Sorry Milo for Hi jacking your thread
