Geographic centres of Victoria and New South Wales

Recently while house-sitting, we were told about a place at Mandurang which is just south of Bendigo.   There was only a marker on the ground which my wife had to brush away the gravel and dust to decipher it.  Nearby was a plaque on a stone and a disused church. biggrin

That whet our appetite to see other centres so yesterday we ventured to Five Ways near Tottenham in New South Wales.  There were about 20kms of gravel roads (well maintained) however we have now been to that spot.  It was slightly better with one picnic table and a cairn of stones with a plaque and a nearby sign.

We are now en route to Coffs Harbour and currently staying in a lovely Caravan Park in Warren which gave us a discount for being a CMCA member.  The weather is currently 36 so we are spending an extra day here before going further.

Has anyone else visited any interesting sites near here?  yawn

We went to the annual race meeting in Eromanga, Qld. a few years back. One of their claims to fame is being the Australian town furthest from all oceans around Oz.

The geographic centre of NSW is located about 40k west of Nymagee at least that`s what the sign says.....always some little or big thing that is supposed to indentify the location as a special place of interest, from "Big Prawn, Big Banana & Big Merino".

We stayed in a pleasant freecamp at Kimba, Sept 2011 .. one block (maybe 2? blankstare) north of main street.

Spacious ground for up to about 20 rigs, clean toilets, hot showers, donation in the tin fee.

Sponsored by local Lions' Club

Kimba in SA claims to be exactly halfway across Australia (east-west).

Saw that spot and it looked nice Rrox, but it was freezing cold when we were there, we opted for a powered site.
