The little campground at Yambuk was $19 pn pensioner discount incl. It is a nice little place to stay. River and beach access for fishing though we didn't catch anything and didn't see anyone else with a fish either.
Yep - gave Yambuk a thought and Killarney, but I needed to get away from the coast. I usually stay inland in small towns - so Koroit fitted the bill. And the same price too which is good.
Heading northish tomorrow through western Victoria - next stop free-camp near Hotspur and then up near Goroke.
cheers
John

Great. They keep the battery fully charged even on overcast days - as long as I don't use much during the day .
When the sun is shining they keep the van battery topped right up, the laptop topped up (through my inverter), the mobile phone, and my camera battery.
Haven't used the genny since having the panels installed.
Cheers

That's good to hear JOhn, makes vanning so much easier. Ours are working well too even in overcast conditions. We rarely use our genny either, unless i am using the washing machine.
Stayed there the Xmas before last just before it went to $20 a night, was $12.
Fees collected by a long term caravanner.
Biggest problem was the Dog people deliberately taking the greyhounds to C**p in the area vans and motorhomes were parked.
A GN,retired policeman complained and there were more dogs C******g afterwards till the Council animal control threatened to fine them for C*******g in a public space. $300 fine so it stopped a fair bit of it.
The Victorian Greyhound Racing Association also told the greyhound fraternity to pull their heads in or it would be very bad publicity for racing in Vic.
Pity, as there is a designated section for them to take their dogs to Poop.
Not surprised it has been shut down though.Pressure from Van Parks who supply little for GN's in their places for very high fees.
Maybe time to start a campaign against Van parks who charge exhorbitant fees.
You will need to join to log in to bid. they send regular new auctions to your email. If you win the bid (have not missed out yet) need to pay within 7 days and you have 12 months to use it.They email you a voucher for the park
Usually begin about a 1/3 of the price and go up slowly until the bid is accepted or to you limit and not willing to bid anymore.

I recently picked up a travel auction for Portland Caravan Park for $15 a night for 10 nights. Will probably use it in Feb. Cannot use during school holiday times.
We usually go to Port Fairy, went there before Chistmas and was very expensive, so reconsidering where we go.
Also picked up Port Hughes for $16 pn and Bright for $20 pn.

Yes nicholstones you are able to bid for prices well under their recommended price. I think they try to fill the sites in off peak season.
A friend got me onto the site.

You would need to be pretty desparate to stay at the showgrounds, we have looked at them a number of times and they simply get worse each time..........Koroit is certainly the go and has been a long time since we last stayed at a CP in Warrnambool.
Interestingly the Council own & operate a number of small CP`s around the shire of which Koroit & Yambuk are but 2.
