The Newell Highway at Dubbo remains closed after a fatal truck crash this morning. Just before 4am, two trucks had a head-on collision on the highway, about 20km south of Dubbo. One of the trucks ignited after the crash..
Motorists travelling southbound on the #F3 Freeway via Morisset are experiencing significant delays this morning following an accident which blocked all southbound lanes for a brief time.
I always travel that section of road with extreme caution .. some of the incidents I've seen from there through to Parkes are amazing. While that highway is a known heavy vehicle route, the risks taken by smaller vehicles to overtake is ludicris !!
I would certainly not like to apportion blame .. It's a road to hell !
Came though there last week. Trucks driving very fast all the way from Toowoomba. Nightmare drive in the rain. Many, many more trucks on the road than when I went up in December.
Very worrying Ma, when you can't get in touch. Keep calling and I hope you fears are unfounded.
Yes Blaze, unfortunately so. I know Andrew has lost a few mates now in accidents and not all of them were the truck drivers fault either although it is mostly blamed on the truck.
i tell you after driving the tardis , I have a lot more respect for truckies etc some of the stupid things people do in front of us on our last few trips, every one should go for a drive in a truck or motorhome and see what its like for them.. yeah there are some cowboys out there and yes sometimes the truck companies force them to get from A-to b faster than they should.. but we still have to give our truckies respect on the road...
Yes Milo, people are all too quick to blame the truckie before they find out the facts. Sometimes the facts are never known and people "assume" and we all know what assuming does.
Truck drivers are professionals they know what they are doing, they do a great job avoiding the non professionals out on ther road, sometimes they are unable to avoid idiots.
Take a trip across the Nullarbor and have a chat with the truckies on ch 40 they are a great bunch of guys and gals

The one in the link Milo posted didn't seem to know what he was doing, aparently he was going the wrong way on the wrong side of the median strip on Hume Highway.
