New tow vehicle

Well, my new (to me) Toyota Land Cruiser Prado "Grande" is now in it's new home in South West Gippsland. It was a bit different to drive than my Ford Sedan. Filled it up with gas and petrol and now to work out how many km's per tank. I am not sure about the size of each tank just yet but I can work that out next time I refuel one or the other or both as I will let them get right down before I fill up. It looks like they could both be around 60lts each. The main petrol tank was removed to make way for the gas tank.

Let the games begin. DOUG

Woo Hoo! Great vehicle! Enjoy, Doug!
If it has the GPS built in, check the age of the maps. It can lead you astray by not knowing about new by-passes etc, and you cant upload new maps on the internet, have to buy new ones from Toyota for lotsa $$$

Hi GD, it doesn't have one built in but I do have a GPS that you fit to the windscreen, so far that's been good, once I worked out how to use it and listen to it. Actually I am not a fan of the built in ones anyway.

urs came with it, I thought it was standard for the Grande. Once Mr D put new maps into it its fantastic, nice big easy-to-read screen, and a posh-sounding lady to give directions who lives in it. We call her Hilda.

The built in GPS should be fitted as it was standard in Grande's.

The DVD player for it is under the seat.

You can purchase the new maps from Whereis web page. Not cheap.

We originally had the 2005 diesel Grande.

At that time I knew the manager of Lexus in Tasmania, we went in to buy a Lexus AWD but he suggested the Prado.

The interesting fact that he told us, was that the Grande was actually built in the Lexus factory as it was marketed in the USA as a Lexus. That was the reason the Grande was the only Prado with the Pearl White duco, it was a Lexus colour.

When we had the suspension set on "comfort" it reminded us of those big old 60's yank tanks.

Got rid of ours (pre D4D, common rail diesel model) because I was dissappointed in the fuel economy and lack of power, ptherwise a fantastic vehicle.

If anyone is interested I have three air filter elements, Toyota P/N 17801-30040 for the 120 series 3lt diesel for sale at $15ea. RRP$46.

The petrol one would be a lot more responsive.

Cheers

Dusty

It's not a new Prado anymore, it's a 90 series and probably didn't have built in GPS units then. I noticed a black box under the front passenger seat though so will investigate that further as to what it is or does, I originally thought it might have been a CD stacker, as I said will investigate. I got a good deal on this, I originally was going for a 2000 model but this one came up and better.

I have posted a question on the Techo Sticky about where I could get hold of a Owners Manual, like the one you get with a new car. The seller didn't have it so I am looking around. I have tried to Google, with no luck.
