RE: What's the weather like where you are?

I agree Chrissy, I wouldn't like it up there, I will be going through that way in April. It's 5.30am and the weather here in SWG on the coast is very miserable, windy, cold and some rain now and then. No walk this morning.cry

We caught your ice down here Bob, the wind brought it in at 100mph.  Do you want it back, the wind that is.  I'll keep the ice if you don't mind....

In western Viti Levu in Fiji where we are volunteering we have had huge rains now for over 2 weeks.
Roads and towns have been flooded and many roads cut from time to time. Bus services have been restricted and people have not been able to get to work on some days.
There have been 8 or 9 deaths and while the rain has eased for the last 24 hours many crops have been lost and many homes wrecked by water and by landslides.

On a couple of occasions there have been misleading reports of impending cyclones. Many local people are terrified because they know that a direct cyclone hit will mean they loose EVERYTHING.
Some service organisations like Rotary have been distributing emergency parcels, but some people have nothing to eat and many have been without  safe water supply for almost a week.
Infections from waterborn diseases are expected to rise.

Tropical Cyclone Jasmine is now about 1,000km west of us and intensifying. We expect it to slide away to the SE over the next few days. We hope it will.

Cheers,
Peter

Wow! I'm so grateful to be safe and dry here! Thank you Peter and Margaret, and best wishes and prayers that Jasmine stays away.

PS.. that sounded so superficial when the problems are so enormous.

I am in the Mid West and we have not had to many days below 35, since xmas. but we expect that and you sought of get used to it. a dry heat. the weekend before it was 45 both days 42 today and 40 or above for the next 5 days. not to many Nomads cruising around this area. we do expect a couple of 47's in Feb.
a good weather sight is Wily Weather, punch in you area and then your town, it will have every town and siding in the country. have a play you will get the wind, temperature and expected rainfall.
cheers.

Here in Sth West Gippsland on the coast at 6.30pm 9/2/12 we are about to be hit with severe thunderstorms and looks like we are in for it for a few days. East Gippsland is on flood alert so I hope all will be ok over there.

It sounds nasty in Fiji. Keep up the good work. How do you get into that work?

In good old Adelaide it's cold. Yeah I know it's supposed to be summer. I haven't lost it yet. It's cold here. About mid 20's during the day, cold at night. Good for sleeping, but really could do with a bed warmer to cuddle. Mmmm..... Have to work on that one.
I like it warm. It will be Autumn and winter soon enough.
We haven't had much rain, just the cold wind, overcast and cold. Brrrrrr!!!!!

Bit of extreme weather in Canberra today, good storm earlier, was out doing the horses and a bloody great bolt of lightning went bang, cleared the trees of all the ****ys trying to stay dry and frightened the hell out of our horses, destined to get best part of 100mm tonite, funny its looks fairly clear outside

Newcastle - lots of storms last night, this morning, bucketing down - and yet BOM said it was only 8ml! My husband said it would have been at least 1". So very wet and soggy underfoot. Just as well we didn't bring the caravan this time!

We didn't get the promised thunderstorm yesterday. Today is bright with blue skies but can see clouds in the distance. Doubt we are going to get any of the promised rain either.

At Greenpoint on the very west coast of Tassie and it's blue sky, sunny, warm and around 25 degrees. The water is very refreshing for a swim too

We're in Bremer Bay too, like Dellalan was. Should've gone to the beach yesterday, as it's much cooler today (Sunday). Still, we're here until Friday so should get a few more nice warm days in. Nice CP, the one near the beach, and taking it nice and easy (someone's gotta do it!). Next stop Hyden - haven't seen that Wave Rock for at least 20 years. Guess it's still the same?
