Showering On The Road

From time to time this subject comes up on the forum.

Where to get a shower when you free camp or just on the road.

I have a friend who works at our local pool and she was telling me that back packers shower at the pool a lot.

When you go to a pool, they usually charge you as a swimmer or a spectator, which is cheaper.

So to have a nice hot shower at our pool costs you $2.00.

I thought this information might prove valuable to many of our members on the forum. smile

I might add it to the Tips thread as well. wink

What a good idea firefly. Would never have thought of going to the local pool.
I know we can use some of the truck stops and also some public toilets have separate showers.

I hadn't given it a thought either till my friend told me Marj. smile

I thought there would be a lot more room at a pool as well.

when we were free camping at Longreach in 2009 we used the showers at the swimming pool. I think it cost $2.00 which was very reasonable.

'Warning'
Do not shower on the road.
You're likely to get run over.

We used pools in a lot of places up north, Gordenvale was good but the buggers closed the free camp down.
A lot of campers at Tamworth went for an early morning swim. I am led to believe you can by a pass to Tamworth pool for duration of the festival.

We had Saturday night bath because it was church on Sunday. Special occasion.
I cringe at the thought of lack of my personal hygiene as I attended high school as an early teen. My grandmother neglected to teach me that very important routine. I learned very quickly at boarding school.
Many indoor pools are open all year round, therefore the showers would be available.
Heck, while you're in there you might as well fit in an aquarobics class followed by the shower. Just a thought.
